1. D’Eriq King is not Cam Newton and coming off an acl injury… who in their right minds is calling goal line qb sneaks with Kimg against Bamas defensive front 7?? That’s already a fireable offense just taking that into account.

2. Then you call the QB sneak from shotgun just to make it even that much more of a “genius” play call.

3. The unnecessary no huddle which told the defense exactly what we were trying to do at that moment.

… Lashlee should already be fired.

Now let’s talk about Diaz during that moment… what real HC would even let that happen without calling a timeout to discuss it with the OC or even cuss out the OC for calling that dumbass play to begin with?? I’ve seen Nick Saban cuss out coaches in games for much smaller reasons than that. The way that entire play went down made it clear that Manny Diaz needs to be fired. The moment is too big for him, the things that go into being a legit HC during those moments he’s not equipped with. I wouldn’t hire him to be the DC at FAMU.

If you think Manny doesn’t have any input and Lashlee is just doing whatever he wants idk what to tell you.

Agreed. This was the worst call of the game. QB power with King on the inch line of the goaline 5 yards back. That’s never been Kings game. He didn’t even want to run or scramble much today on broken plays. Either pound Don, do a real QB sneak, or roll King out with a couple options. ******* gross play calling.

With zero NFL QB prospects currently on the roster, we'll have to run QB power, QB draw and occasional roll outs to move the chains. Not sure there's a single opponent that can beaten from the pocket

To be honest, I hate the roll outs on 1st and 2nd.
Whatever happened to under center double TE, fake dive bootleg and have a quick out from the wide out, with TE quick snap inside block and run to the flag?

Extremely disappointed his play calling last year. @DMoney said it in another thread, his play calling is genius when were more talented then the other opponent, not so much when it's equal or lesser...Last year, mid season on, he's had some real awesome play calls and plays and you see him build rhythm, but this was brutal. I would almost say it was a "Let's run our main plays, if that don't work and we're getting lit up, let's save it and make a run on the rest of the schedule".

I was a very vocal supporter of Rhett Lashlee last season. I even gave him a pass for the subpar Clemson game plan.

The way he started the game yesterday was inexcusable, but the moment he lost me as a supporter was that 4th and goal play call. That wasnt just inexcusable, that was incompetence.

Lashlee ran the ball the entire first half.. Even saw 3 straight runs on all 3 downs even when the passing game was working he finally decided to pass the ball after the half lol when Bama knew it was the only choice we had lol.. and I'm not a play calling guy, but dude is beyond clueless. This was Clemson all over again very disappointed no progress at all.

Can’t be one sided. I agree that it was a bad call, but this thread never exists if King jumps.

I'm more upset about the play calling in the first half when he just kept running the ball even though everyone in the stadium could tell Miami's OL was being pushed around by Alabama's DL. The 4th and goal call? Eh, it's pretty common to run that quick snap and sneak to try and get the half yard. Pats did it with Brady alot. It just plain didn't work. Bama is too good and too well-coached to be surprised by it. I will admit if they were to do that run behind big 55 on the right side, don't go to the left.

The most depressing thing about the game yesterday is just the utter realization (once again) how far the Canes are talent-wise compared to the Alabamas, Clemsons, and Ohio States, especially on the lines. I think the only way to get into that echelon is for Miami to win all the games they are supposed to win which is still 10 or 11 wins a year so they can begin to recruit the talented big guys upfront where the big games are won and lost.

One thing no one is mentioning here is that the refs really screwed us on that play. The whole idea is to run hurry up and snap the ball quickly and get into the endzone before the defense is set. We lined up super fast, the ref had plaed the ball and we were ready to snap it. Then the ref comes running in from behind king and prevents us from snapping the ball until bama is lined up. As far as I know, we didn't substitute so there was no reason for the ref to do that unless I'm missing something in the rules here. It was bizarre.

Actually I just rewatched the play and the ref does run in but we snap it anyway. So it didn't seem to have any affect on the play. What I did notice though is that the play failed because of Don Chaney and to a lesser extent, Mallory. Chaney is on the right side and Mallory on the left. They are responsible for the Bama defenders on the end of the line. When the ball is snapped, everyone fires except Chaney. He sits there and then drifts left towards King without engaging #8. It gives #8 a free path straight down the line to King. Chaney halfheartedly engages him once he reaches King. It's pathetic and killed the play. Mallory engages his guy put doesn't prevent him from crashing inside. So both bama ends are able to crash in on king from each side.

I can't call that a sneak. That's when you're up on the line.

Truthfully, it's almost as if it's an outdated or rarely used play these days and in my time it was more often than not effective for the first down or score.

That was a QB draw from the shotgun to me.

Teams try and get too cute these days when a simple goodie but oldie will do.

A healthy King, pre injury from last year gets us a TD in that single receiver to the top side, bunch receiver grouping on the left side.

The play made no sense, would've been better had we even gone wildcat with anyone else. He's still nervous running the ball and deservedly so.

Same for me but he lost me with the back to back runs up the middle. Inexplicable
