The feared and dreaded "Dream School"

Israel Abrams is set to arrive at Miami today for a multi-day unofficial visit.
Abrams will be in Coral Gables until Thursday, which should give him plenty of time to get an in-depth look at the program and take in practices.
....
It would be cool to come behind Cam Ward and Carson Beck
....
Some have pointed to Miami’s aggressiveness in the portal as a negative for high school quarterback recruiting.
But Abrams doesn’t see it that way.
“It doesn’t matter,” Abrams said. “The only thing I’m worried about is giving everything I have on the field. I’m going to keep doing that all day. Whoever is in that room with you doesn’t matter. You have to be better.
....
“They [Miami] are definitely in the mix,”
....
He is looking to make a final decision shortly after his trip to UM.
...
I’m looking for a healthy program that is going to benefit me and a program that fits me and my personality. Wherever fits me the best is where I’ll end up being.”

I’d be pretty surprised if we won this one. Kentucky, Auburn, FSU and Miami are all relative newcomers to his recruitment versus Purdue who he has visited multiple times and been recruited by for 15 months. Yet, no supreme confidence has emerged outta any of the four non-Purdue candidates despite a self-imposed decision deadline next month.

Barry Odom’s son was their HS QB signee in 2025 lol. Abrams was offered before the 2026 quarterback they ended up flipping from Boston College.

If he is thinking about the long game, I’d venture to guess he wants to start right away as well as stack starts to get to that 25 starts rubicon that the NFL looks for. That interview answer doesn’t necessarily convince me that he is fine with waiting his turn. Kid is 24-0 as a starter.

Even in this NIL age, distance and location matters more than people would think. Purdue’s campus is 150 minutes away from his HS. He doesn’t just have multiple visits to Purdue; he has a handful to Minnesota and Iowa State (pre-staff change) as well—showing an early Midwest preference.

Knowing absolutely nothing, this seems like such an odd recruitment from the outside looking in. Why did Will Stein not pursue him at Oregon? If I were a qb/their fam, that’d give me some trepidation. Why did the staff of Penn State, who gave him his first offer whilst at Iowa State before he even became the mid-season sophomore starter of his HS, not recruit him to College Station?
