“He understands they might get somebody Monday”

Cam literally just gave us the deadline. Appears he has until Sunday to make his decision.
Giving him a deadline is the right move.

I have a theory. Miami would prefer Cam, but would be fine with having to ‘settle’ on Howard. I have a feeling that Howard may have such a great offer from Miami, he’s compelled to wait a few days before it becomes executable. In the meantime, Ward has an even better offer that is immediately executable but has been given a deadline to act. If he doesn’t commit, Howard’s offer becomes executable.

I think we’re able to hold on to Howard like this by giving him the numbers to show they are a good deal higher than his market value. Basically, he can immediately commit to another school, or wait a few days and potentially make ~500k more without eliminating other options.

Didn’t @apfenny3 say a while ago that Cam needed to do some maturing on and off the field. I’m starting to see why now. Who is waiting weeks for a transfer qb to decide if they really want to come or not that’s how you end up with no qb

Seems like it was just an exercise of how much can he get before declaring for the draft. If he doesn't get it then he will head to NFL. Maybe he was looking for that 2 mil. offer and maybe we didn't want to go that high. They chose Miami first to set the market price and see what other teams would be willing to pay more?

“He really liked Miami, liked coach (Mario) Cristobal, coach (Shannon) Dawson, got to meet with the receivers, linemen, running backs, and they really meshed,” dad said.

Mom Patrice adds “Miami did a great job, were impressive. They made us feel like home. It all comes down to Cameron’s decison, and we’re here to support him.”

Calvin also said that Miami coaches asked when Cameron planned on making a decision, and that with the Christmas date the understanding is UM will try to wait but might not be able to with Kansas State’s Will Howard another QB that the Canes are pushing to land.
So land a guaranteed $2MM and then go to the draft and possibly be a day 1 pick or roll the dice on how much you make, have to perform to make that kind of money and roster spot in the league and not he even considered in the first 5-10 QB picks (and be a name of what could have been)?

Seems like the guarantee is worth it. Buy the Lloyds of London policy with some of the funds from NIL and ball out in an offense that can go crazy and showcase your abilities and then collect a fat signing bonus and put the same effort in to be a number 1 qb in the league anyways but a year older and wiser.

Use the money you’re saving with Ward and secure Murphy or Moore…that simple. Use as a blessing and secure the position for multiple years somehow.

The notion that F$U can afford Ward, now that Mario and the Mas Brothers have set the Market Price (at an overinflated value) on purpose, is laughable.

Our competition isn't the Criminoles. They're spent, due to Norvell's decision to WIN NOW through the Portal. Our competition is Lincoln Riley and Ryan Day. They've got the money and the backing. Would not at all be surprised if Bama popped up in the background, or a darkhorse like aTm or Tejas.

Mario and the Columbus gang were smart to price Ward high. That kept him out of reach of Trailerhassee (unless they come up with some unacceptable 5 year deal crap). But that DID keep him in the market for the Serious Players Club, of which FSU thinks it is a member, but isn't.

That said, the Canes should have had this arranged earlier on so this trip to the Gables was the signing trip. But I understand that the kid's Agents want to play games. That's hard to avoid. However, the University has to shut this bs down at some point and move on.

I’m thinking we may be doing the same with Howard re: setting a high market price.
