Yes, but we have to guard against vague pie-in-the-sky nonsense.
"Miami needs to play a tougher schedule". "Miami needs a sparring partner". "Miami shouldn't play FAMU".
All of that is bull****, and it ignores what actually happened. Miami went to NINE games in the ACC (F$U didn't). That means we have THREE OOC games to schedule/play. One of those games is against Notre Dame, the #3 team in the country. Currently, at this moment, who else in the P4 is playing a higher ranked OOC game than us? GaTech v. Georgia qualifies. Texas v. Ohio State qualifies. Everyone else can **** off.
As for our other TWO games, let's not forget that both Auburn and South Carolina dropped games with Miami. What were our options? Does anyone honestly believe that there is a long line of P4 ADs outside of Radakovich's office who are just desperate to schedule Miami? And let's not forget that Miami has been scheduling FAMU since the 1970s.
Yeah, "Miami needs a sparring partner" is just something that soft Miami "fans" say so that they can look cool in front of their Gator friends. Hey, if the SEC wants to invite Miami, feel free to send that invitation to President Joe. Until then, it's just snobbish bull**** for SEC fans to accuse Miami of having a weak schedule, when all the SEC teams that were SUPPOSED to play Miami have backed out.
Simple mathematics puts 68x20000000=1,360,000,000 (68 x 20 million)Exactly 68 schools, the same number of athletic programs in the four biggest conferences in Division I, reached or came within 5% of reaching the $20.5 million revenue-sharing cap over the first season of a system that allowed the schools to pay their players directly.
Court filings by the College Sports Commission on Thursday showed that, in all, 319 schools opted into the arrangement outlined in the House lawsuit settlement that set the cap at 22% of the average of certain revenues at Power Four athletic departments. Of those, 307 doled out $1.77 billion in revenue.
When asked about the PCSA this week, Calipari went on an unfiltered rant to a group of local reporters and admitted that nine of his players make more than his assistant coaches at Arkansas, while the other three on his roster make more than his entire staff.
"Right now, we need something to give us some semblance of order and some guardrails," Calipari said. "And there will be people against it who think there should be unions; they should be unionized. Agents should have a free hand to do what they want. They talk about, well, what about coaches? I'm gonna say this, I probably shouldn't: Nine of my players make more than my assistants. And the other three make more than all my staff. And we are not one of the highest payers; we're just not."
After admitting that his roster earns more than his assistant coaches, Calipari continued his rant about the PCSA by defending coaches' salaries across the board, citing his nearly four decades of coaching experience.
"Then you could say, what about (me)," Calipari said. "I've been doing it 40 years. Started as a volunteer, two years as a part-time assistant. And I've kinda done OK at different programs. So yeah, they're paying me. How about this: all the coaches on (Arkansas') campus in every sport make less than the rev share. ... Players are getting more than the coaches. I just don't understand who could be against it."
Calipari's roster at Arkansas, which includes projected top-three pick Jordan Smith Jr. and potential first-round pick Billy Richmond III, is arguably his deepest since he left Kentucky for another SEC job in 2024. The Razorbacks' 2026 recruiting class finished No. 2 in the 247Sports team rankings, only behind Duke.
