???? This bill ... whatever ends up being passed by the Senate .... STILL has to go to the house where there are a slew of congressmen who oppose it. This bill will get shredded in in the House. I expect the realignment issues to basically disappear as far as Miami is concerned.

In six years the independent requirement ends. Media deals would be up for renewal around that point as well. But if I had to imagine the next round of realignment will hit before that. The Big Ten and SEC are going to want to negotiate with all their cards on the table.

It doesn’t make sense for those conferences to sign deals and then add more teams. Especially considering those conferences could look to add major players which would drive their contracts up. I’m not a legal expert by any means so idk how this bill ends up. But reading the tea leaves, I’d imagine we end up somewhere else in the near future.
 
When we leave would obviously depend on what the house does. But if this thing doesn’t pass I think we’re out in 2-4 years when the exit fee becomes palatable.

There's no way the House leaves this bill as is. When/if they get their grubby little hands on it, they're gonna change it to their (lobbyist) liking. Then it has to pass. Then it goes back to the Senate for a final vote, or to be changed again (or reconciled) and voted on. If this thing ever hits #47's desk, it will look nothing like it does today.

It has been rumored that ESPN has already approved more $$$ for the SEC media deal meaning they could add teams immediately without penalizing current members financially.

Yeah but they’d NEVER add us. So it’s a useless thing for us. UNC and UVA sure may help them. We need a way into the B1G and fast.

Sure it helps us. Takes pressure off by ensuring the SEC has room and is ready to take several teams that otherwise might be candidates for the B10. 6 leave the ACC - four to the SEC and two to the B10 with ND remaining independent.
