Protect College Sports Act [formerly “SCORE Act” thread]

Could we technically just leave the ACC and pay the fine before the bill would be passed? If it looked like it would?

Guys our president Joe Echevarria is incredibly smart, he was the CEO at Deloitte, which is one of the biggest companies in the world, he's on the board at Pfizer, and he's an alum. This is a short listen, an excerpt from an interview he did a week ago. I will attach the most important quotes though, because they're clear:

“We’re not playing for this contract. We have a contract today with the networks that exist, the ACC does. We’re not playing for this contract. We’re playing for the next contract.”

And

“And wherever realignment takes us, we will not be left out. We’re too big a brand and too successful, and the viewers will want us wherever that’s—so that’s what we’re doing, playing for the next contract.”

I trust him fully and we will NOT be left out regardless of what happens.

It's fascinating to me how UM, FSU and USF all obviously coordinated these responses. Similar to others, I dont think it survives the House. At least, not as written, and rhese schools are starting to exert public pressure. And I especially like how Miami, in a very professional manner, told ACC to go **** itself

This guy is a big insider on the FSU board, they think USF wants an ACC spot and seems like Miami and FSU will exit together.

I read in the bill where only black athletes are going to pay this "tax"- some how the white athletes survived the cuts.

Even if you take race out of it, it’s eyebrow raising. Usually…

Sees a perceived problem -> Thinks Government needs to step in and regulate

Sees a wage disparity-> Thinks government needs to redistribute the wealth

Isn’t how Republicans think, but in this case that’s exactly what they’re doing.

It’s hypocritical and inconsistent, and it makes you wonder about their motives
