the commissioner has a duty in bylaws to represent all members concerns, not try to steamroll at least 7 of them

If those seven teams that are being “steamrolled” leave there is no ACC for him to represent. Realistically if even two leave, and possibly even one, there will be no ACC to represent. His job is first and foremost to the conference as a whole. You can’t realistically expect him to aid anyone in their quest to defect, which will ultimately cause the collapse of the conference.

The playoff payout structure, we got to keep it all instead of sending it to the conference for dispersing. 14M we made just for us. Conferences usually share it, now we get it keep it all, usually ND as an independent only got that privilege.

The CFP is also ending its performance-based revenue-distribution model that saw Miami this season and Notre Dame last season each rake in $20 million in bonus money, in addition to big conference-wide payouts. Moving forward, the Big Ten and SEC will earn roughly 29% of CFP revenue each, the ACC 17%, the Big 12 15%, and the Group of 6 conferences collectively 10%.

CFP Will Stay at 12 Teams

CFP expansion discussions are expected to continue, and the management committee will have at least the next 10 months to explore more ideas.

I don’t fault Phillips for trying to prevent schools from bailing on the conference.

However I loathe Phillips for the things you point out here. He, and tbf basically every conference, have caved to every demand the BIG and SEC have made. This bill was originally supposed to set the framework for ALL conferences (including G6) to pool together for a combined tv contract and revenue share that would have resulted in a much larger, and more lucrative NFL like contract for all to share. Of course the SEC *cough ESPN* and the BIG *cough FOX* didn’t want that so Phillips and all tucked their tails between their legs and caved as usual. Last I saw there was still language about potential tv rev share, but it’s purely optional now.

I want UM out of this clown show conference, but the reality is Phillips is doing his job by trying to prevent defection. He knows the conference is toast if UM, FSU, UNC, etc. bailed. At this point even losing just one or two valuable programs would probably be enough to bury the conference.

I believe that comes from last year where Phillips was silent before we were chosen for playoffs. He had or has kids that graduated from ND and were athletes there.

Did not know they changed the payout model. Read up on that, what a crock of sht. That was kinda critical for us. Again I’m not above moving, it’s the likely outcome. I just want it to be on our term, because I value the easy playoff path. Also I don’t want to end up like those former PAC schools stuck with exploded transit costs, even across the none revenue sports.

WTF with all of the medical redshirts. What’s the point of this then? That was the point of doing the 5th year. 2,3 years worth of injuries and we are back to where we are now. Grown men like Chase and Toure at 26 years old tackling and 18 years worth old freshman.

Or some 26 year old pitcher throwing a 100mph fastball at some 18/19 year old freshman. Or some 25-26 year old man looking like Kyle Schwarber teeing off a 19 year old kid.

ND threw a hissy fit over the ACC supporting a conference member in football over non conference member in football ND. The cryin’ Irish even said the ACC/ND was irrevocably damaged.

Because the finesse is in.. They point at things people dont have time to confirm and say thats reasonable, this politician who always lies is right and here to help.. But the real move is never discussed and the poison pill is hidden, anyone who says hey lets give ncaa complete immunity is just a lost soul. WE COOKED.

I’m not reading through 50 pages of crap. But why is it sign, sealed and delivered ND joins the Big Ten? It seems like we are destined for the Big Ten at this point.

ND, unfortunately, gets their cake and eats it too in regards to the CFP and staying Independent. I would assume that if the ACC dissolves, they stay independent in football, switching the scheduling partnership with the ACC for the Big Ten. Then they make a natural move to the Catholic Conference(Big East) for the other sports. UCONN is independent in football, so it’s not some ridiculous or far fetched idea.

Again, maybe I missed it. But Notre Dame has multiple built in rivalries within the Big Ten. It almost makes too much sense for us to join, ND stay independent and schedule within Big Ten rather than them becoming a full fledged member.

How can Congress support this

Well, for starters because there is a lot of money and influence pushing them to support the bill.

Second, because there is a large portion of the fan base, I’d argue probably a majority of the fan base, who don’t like the amount of money being paid out to “college kids”. Before the SCOTUS NIL ruling those pushing pay players liked to say things like “kids can’t even afford to buy a burger” which drew sympathy from the average person. Now those same once sympathetic people are seeing technically unemployed college “kids” pulling in six and seven figures and they don’t like it.
