Protect College Sports Act [formerly “SCORE Act” thread]

General Mike Ryan Ruiz is fighting the fight.

lmao at throwing in “a ND guy”.

I want UM out of this clown show conference, but the reality is Phillips is doing his job by trying to prevent defection. He knows the conference is toast if UM, FSU, UNC, etc. bailed. At this point even losing just one or two valuable programs would probably be enough to bury the conference.

These are two different issues - we should fight with/for the preservation of the ACC; we should also fight this bill - with all of its cronyist provisions - with/for the ACC and Big XII.

Did we join the FSU/Clemson lawsuit against the ACC? I saw some stuff on x that as part of their settlement there is language that the ACC couldn’t work against the interests of the parties. In this case would the ACC going against the wishes of those involved and lobbying for this legislation be against their interests?

The conference is ALREADY DEAD.. They are just tryna drag us down with them and the other unserious programs.. Do you see they syracuse/pitt game? This **** is not even a similar product of the other conferences.. They are playing purgatory football..

There is no fight for the "preservation" of acc LMAOOO, wtf.. that **** died when they signed the death row tv contract 360 deal.. WHat are some of yall talking about on here :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

Is the site under surveillance and yall speaking in code? **** bizarre, yall support NCAA and ACC dead conference..

Not even concerned about the penalties for leaving a conference to join another conference in this proposed legislation b/c if this comes to fruition that provision won't be in there.

It’s on life support, but not fully dead. If anyone of substance leaves then it’s dead.

Phillips is just trying to keep the dam from breaking, and probably praying every night for the never before seen miracle of UM, Clemson, and FSU all being top tier teams at the same time.

I’m one of the few that is perfectly fine with staying ACC. Hasn’t hurt our recruiting and it keeps us with an easier path to the playoffs, plus how the money is structured it’s a real positive. Basketball and baseball are respectable too. But the fact our own commissioner is pushing the ***** Miami clause. For me that’s casus beli. Remove Jim Phillips, we should have some of the clout for it.

the commissioner has a duty in bylaws to represent all members concerns, not try to steamroll at least 7 of them

One thing I would say is I would bet if you polled the actual players, they would be oblivious to this bill and how it affects them.. There is a reason this is being fast tracked and when everything is implemented many will say they are surprised and were unaware.. ALOT of people involved are dropping the ball or have been bought off..
This is Obamacare 2.0 then.

you are high. it is a 40M revenue gap per year in the next couple of years minimum even if we get uneven revenue share- the contracts on media side are just far too off, the playoff split we got last year goes away under new deal and it's not sustainable over time

Can you explain how the money is structured that is a real positive for Miami?

The playoff payout structure, we got to keep it all instead of sending it to the conference for dispersing. 14M we made just for us. Conferences usually share it, now we get it keep it all, usually ND as an independent only got that privilege.

I mean if she's saying Miami is fighting for 2 years but nothing about the 19 teams provision then maybe Miami knows they're getting one of the 4 reminding spots (1 for the B1G and 3 for the SEC)?
I was thinking that too, strange they are not fighting the 19? Maybe we are 19 with the Big Ten in 2028/2029 so Joe E wants this clause sunset in 2 years….

Is it really 40M yearly? Fair enough. Maybe if we get a full share that’d be a fine profit minus the millions in extra travel we have to do. I’m just comfortable sticking with the ACC, if the implosion of the conference forces our hand so be it. I’m enjoying not having to playing a juggernaut schedule, easier path to the CFP. We do need our brands to step it up tho, rn too many of them are down.
