Protect College Sports Act [formerly “SCORE Act” thread]

On the money earning issue, the current bill has language that essentially says third party NIL isn’t capped. That’s the attempt and working around any legal issue. Who knows if it will fly or not, but don’t assume it wouldn’t.

As for the rest of your post, yiure just repeating yourself. You’re fully convinced the bill will die because it doesn’t have player representation while ignoring reality, which is congress rarely cares about the opinions of those not giving them money.

Another issue being ignored is that CFB fandom as a a majority are fed up with lots of things going on in CFB. The majority want rules put in place to stop the Wild West situation currently going, but the fandom doesn’t agree on the answers either. For every UM fan calling their congressman to say kill this bill you have a fan of say an SEC team calling their congressman because they want this bill to pass.
We’ll see, I very much doubt it passes through Congress in its current form. I believe the cap on conferences will have to be removed before this passes.

College football fans vote. They, on par, are not nearly as educated on the issues as those of you posting in here. Vast majority of them hate all the transfers and pay-for-play. Like Boomers blindly supporting whatever Obama, Bush, or the MSM endorse, same goes for Saban and ESPN. The reason this is one of the only pieces of legislation in recent memory that is even remotely bi-partisan is because it’s considered a non-controversial layup with voters. Miami should’ve seen this coming from a mile away. I’m just going to presume it did and we’re not going to get caught with our pants down.
Like @PIPO in this thread, he came in not knowing anything about it but supported for some individual issue that is resolved already in the 5 for 5 play that already eliminates older players. He fully supports a bill that will kill his own program.. Many tried to explain and he said oh but still supports it, because why not, the government is here to help :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

With how well your reported injury declarations present, I’ll take this with a pinch of salt.
Will see but I strongly believe in its current form, this bill will not pass through congress. The only chance it has is if they take out the cap on conferences but even with that, I don’t think Congress plans on giving the NCAA antitrust protection.

Protect NCAA not Sports

Yeah this is all about empowering the NCAA and it's very likely they've paid off a lot of the senate. We just need to hope this doesn't get passed before the election. I think we will be ok afterwards. The Congressional Black Caucus is strongly against it and they will soon have a lot of power in the new dem congress.

but they have a union. When has a league been giving this anti trust exemption without the players being represented by a union?
The exemption came before the union. Took congressional action in 98 I think it was to claw some of it back. Even with the CBA the anti trust exemption is pretty much untouchable. It’s ****ed up.

Ok I understand. So every league that has this has a Union. That would make this one a total outlier am I right?

We'll do just fine and the timing lines up perfectly with Abrams and Cypher.

Mario is playing 4D chess and you're playing pick my nose and eat it.

I really dont understand how Hurricane fans on here ( I assume they would know how corrupt NCAA is, especially towards us compared to normal fan) are now saying hey lets give power back to NCAA with no court or oversight.. This rule basically allows NCA to come to coral gables and suspend a player for a flight for 3-5 games and no one can say anything..

Our there people on here really siding with NCAA?

The best thing possible would be for Corey Booker to get his greedy hands around this, like he did with the cannabis legislation. Not because he cares about the players — he couldn’t give a **** less — but because soon after he’s in control he’ll demand **** like a 2% excise tax on ticket sales and free skyboxes at SEC games for transgender illegals, guaranteeing that the thing dies on the vine.

I am talking about how it was before this 5 for 5.

College baseball players, avg age was 22 years old in D1. So many guys, if you watch the college World Series as an example, have been to multiple schools and were typically 24-25 years old due to injury exceptions, other exemptions.

All sports had that though. Luckily this should be last year of it.

I thought I was clear on what I supported overall after hearing different perspectives:

- I don’t want to see old *** players like 25-26 year olds

- I want control over how many times a person can transfer. I find it crazy you can transfer 2-4 times in a career.

- I want Miami to be able to go to the Big10 so I don’t want them to have to be an independent or any other school for 5 years or whatever it is.

- I am a conservative so I am not ever about relying on government for anything

- The 5 for 5, I explained my view point on it from a baseball perspective.

- If we can have the 5 for 5 (which is already in place) and leave everything else out, I guess I can live with the unlimited transfers sticking around, although if I can’t have my preferred 1 time transfer, ok with 2 transfers Max without having to sit out.

1) Nobody is siding with the NCAA so your point is moot

2) I was countering the complaint about the one transfer rule hurting our QB situation, and stating Mario recruited two 5* stud QBs in Abrams and Cyphers so we will be fine.
