They should be. Look at the post-NSD rankings. The distance between #1 a number #32 this year was the equivalent of 1st and 15 last year.

Parity is here. For how long, no one can say, but it’s here for a lot longer now that SCORE is DOA.
 
Do conferences even want to sell their media rights as one big entity? I didn’t know that was a thing the powers that be were asking for…maybe that’s moreso on the NCAA side so they can get a piece of the power pie.

It would be great if people understood history.

This is exactly how things were before the 1984 Supreme Court case of NCAA v. Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma.

And the argument from the 75 percenters is that since 1984, the Big 10 and the SEC have become dominant. Thus for those who want us to go back to "the good old days", they are putting forth a "solution" that allows the 75% to band together and party like it's 1979.

Anyone who expects Congressional action to fix a current problem in America is seriously deluded.

I would amend this to say, "Anyone who thinks those in Congress have the best interests of the people in mind and not their own self-interest are deluded". Everything these days is at the behest of influential people who will help get them re-elected.
 
Is there any other legal form of entrepreneurship where the government steps in and says “whoah, you can’t make that much money, we need to put a cap on how much you can make”?

It’s crazy how far some people will go to keep some other people from having money.
 
Can someone tell me if I’m reading this right. The Big Ten & SEC will have to share their TV rights money with the Big 12 & ACC?

they have the ability in theory for one or more conferences to combine and sell their media rights essentially- ala nfl teams

lol. I meant private sector jobs but your point still stands.
 
This isn't going to work for multiple reasons. The big question is what happens if the B1G and SEC finally break away from the NCAA?

Yeah, requiring schools to maintain scholarship and funding for women's and Olympic sports is great in theory. The problem is that each athletic dept offers different sports, and women's and Olympic sports lose money.

So why should one school be forced to maintain funding for sports that other schools don't even offer, when all they do is lose them money?

Athletic depts across the country would gut those programs before the bill can take effect and they get locked into paying for them.
