Protect College Sports Act [formerly “SCORE Act” thread]

19 seems like a weird number….
Basically a nonstarter for major expansion or super-league potentialities; but would allow the SEC to catch up to the B1G, and gives hope to the select few G6 schools who could bring value to the P4.

But they can at least say they didn’t permanently block all expansion for p4 or promotion opportunities for the Memphis, USF, Tulane, UConn’s, etc of the world.

ACC and B1G have 18 each when considering Notre Dame in non-football sports. XII and SEC have 16 each.

Why don’t they just open windows for realignment? Like every 10 years or something. That’s keeps schools locked in but allows movement later if needed. Basically like a census and redistricting (til this past year, sigh).

They’d prefer it if

1. No super league forms
2. No P4 schools move at all between the current setup because of all the added geography factors that have already occurred post-realignment this decade.

Executing #2 solidifies #1; while still giving the Memphis, USF, UConn, San Diego St, Tulane and whoever else a shot at promotion if they have outsized success

I know as a Maude I am not supposed to write anything remotely political, but I do enjoy it when the parties find some common ground, in this case all the Dems and 3-4 Republicans. I assume there are some people on CIS who will be surprised to learn that their respective politicians wanted to limit how much money college athletes can make.

I probably have to delete this comment in about 15 minutes, and give myself a warning, so take your shots at me while you have a chance.
Do you want this thread to go to Town Hall? Because this is how threads go to Town Hall.

Seriously, I miss the days of parties working together for a compromise.
You mean when tip O’Neill and Reagan would actually speak civilly? Yeah, you’re 40 yrs late on this one…. That ship has sailed unfortunately

I’m torn on this. I should have kept my comment neutral, but the votes are what they are.

I defer to your judgment as to the correct place to have this thread. I’m good either way.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Your comment was vanilla at best.
