Great example.

Politicians take care of their own interests first and foremost.

This bill may very well die, but no one should be pinning their hopes of this bills demise on congress doing what’s best for the players.
 
The ACC just wants to keep using us, FSU and Clemson to subsidize everyone else. We got to find away out or even these Nike type deals won’t save us. I have faith in Joe E. He definitely knows this is decades type concern if we get forced to stay in this ****** conference earning $30m less that the B10/SEC.
 
Just hope we have a plan. Too lazy to know the ins and outs of all this. And if we gotta pay with “third party NIL” we will find a way

The way everything is written is literally a landing strip for one team, in all of college football, to move into a conference.

This entire thing is such a god da** sham of a process. But what I hate most is that all of this is happening while congress won't lift a finger to solve literally any other problem we're facing right now as a country. But this...this they'll "solve". It makes me so insanely angry.
 
This is also by no means dead in the House despite the consistent claims repeated here. Congress routinely gets a ton of work done in the lame-duck period. 20-24 legislative days over 6-7 weeks is a long time. However it is quite a long time from now so nothing is imminent to worry about. It’s passing the Senate. That’s already done.

Still believe people (in here and out there on social media / in the media at-large; even the powerbrokers from the 5 ACC schools listed) are obsessing over this conference musical chair 🐂 💩 too much. That’s a shiny toy

Spoiler Alert: We are playing in the ACC in 2027 & 2028 — no matter wtf happens with this bill. 2nd Spoiler alert: our payout in both the summer of ‘27 and the summer of ‘28 from the ACC will be less than the schools in B1G and SEC. Last Spoiler Alert: even with increased payouts, those schools aren’t projected to match the NIL payroll we have.

The greatest and most immediate threat to UM is the salary cap. The NCAA will be able to fine us $1 for every $5 we go over the cap, and however much we go over gets subtracted from our-next-year’s salary cap—indentidem i.e. again and again until we get under the cap. And of course, said new cap for us would be lower than everybody else’s. As a big spender we’d have to take the most money away from our student-athletes. And that’s not just from our football team, that’s every single sports we have.

Our 2027 recruiting class, which we have already committed to spending large amounts of sums on, would then come into conflict with paying possible NFL early entrants to return to school, portal players, or players who want to stay but we’re reducing their wages by so much it’d be dumb for them to not go elsewhere as the teams who are not above the payroll-salary-cap-ceiling become incentivized to spend and quickly get really good players at a bargain price-point. Flipping other blue-chippers in the 2027 cycle; could become completely unfeasible in an instant. Affording portal players could be impossible cuz how close to the max we are. We’d have to cross-coordinate roster payroll limits between two dozen sports teams.

**** I thought Republicans were against DEI and Big Government getting involved lol, this would violate the Sherman Anti Trust law I'm pretty sure, not a lawyer but if there are any lawyers on here let me know if I'm wrong. Also, I hate the hypocrisy, coaches are literally signing 100 million dollar deals. Miss me with the fake concern, they're just upset the kids got motion, stop pocket watching lol
