Props to Mario

Breaking tendencies is right up there with changes.
November 1, 2025, is the day that began the evolution of Mario Cristobal and this program.. (at least that's what I hope, lol)

but you can't tell me that SOMETHING didn't change in terms of approach and philosophy. As I stated back in mid-October, there is nothing with this offense that couldn't be fixed THIS season. Certain years, you just have to wait till the off-season, I really believed this wasn't the case for this unit

Going to the more Malachi-centric offense with a dose of Pringle has made a huge difference

Very rare that a team pivots on offensive philosophy in November. Some of it was due to personnel but the other part was all play call mix.

just motioning Malachi, and then using him on jet-sweeps, or a throwing option. Also, throwing a bit more on early downs. Then more Pringles, who has injected some wiggle and speed into the run game. All of this got Beck back in the groove

The offensive system is basically the same. But it is a different offense in many respects

you can make an argument that the job is now just beginning. Just making the playoffs isn't the goal, here...and I think Mario himself would agree with that
I agree, yet that's an unrealistic expectation too. Just look at the last 20 years and do it without the green and orange lenses. Mario is doing way more than what should be expected. And the best part is that if he does more, he won't go anywhere no matter who comes knocking. He's legit "one of us"

I agree wholeheartedly…

Breaking tendencies and mixing it up keeping the defense off balance, scheming plays to maximize your talent…

Something indeed changed and I LOVE it…

Love or hate Mario he did what he needed to do to get us in the playoffs. I also think the face time he got in the media was good for recruits and their families to see. Go Canes!

True and if we play with a little more tempo and rhythm, we can play even better

I don’t think people realize just how implementing these adjustments; some big some small changes EVERYTHING…

That’s playing to win, not playing NOT TO LOSE…

There’s a big difference…

an all-time great Hurricane flat out told me that our offensive guys were NOT having fun -- till the gadget plays came out and UM started making things happen. Again, this stuff matters

We finally started getting playmakers in space (Toney, Pringle, lofton, Upshaw) and force that one guy to make a play

The thing I hated most about playing in a phone booth offense with A gap runs is the defense can key in and load the box with numbers where if the first guy fails to make the play they can still double back and finish it for a minimal gain

Credit to Mario if he finally let Shannon loose or the other way around. Whatever tough conversations happened that week it was for the betterment of the program this year and hopefully going forward

100% brah…

I kept hearing you mention the “hope, emotions, playing with energy” analogy the playmaker (I believe) shared with you…

And it’s spot on…

yes, that's the last missing ingredient IMO, and again, Im not saying Miami needs to be Baylor circa 2010 with Art Briles, either
yup, just play with rhythm. Beck is a different dude when he's in rhythm

“Rhythm is everything. Every move you make starts with your heart, and that’s in rhythm or you’re in trouble. Your rhythm should set the pace of the fight. If it does, then you penetrate your opponent’s rhythm. You make him fight your fight, and that’s what boxing is all about.” Sugar Ray Robinson

Same can be applied to football

one way to develop rhythm is to pas-pass-pass-pass (assuming you are completing them) instead of insisting on running into the C-G gap every other play. Rhythm brings excitement to the team and energizes the WHOLE team.

Mario with time to prepare against a non-mediocre ACC team is something every coach should fear. Just might make a run here
There’s also something to be said about getting in to the playoff and some pressure being off of the coaches

I mean sure being in the playoff is pressure but Mario heading towards another offseason preaching progress but also knowing we didn’t get in the ACCCG or Playoff even if we deserved it

Man that has to weigh heavy

I know we knock the Miami nostalgia stuff but it does hit different when good things happen and it happens to one of our own

I’m happy for the guy

Let the kids have fun and play with house money. After all, why bother playing it if you don't enjoy it? The entire staff dedicates their life to it, and they love it just as much as the players. Let it rip lol

that's why I was never really worried about the weather/temp in Pitt. As long as they were playing for something, our guys would be fine. Its when there's nothing at stake -- that guys will pack it in. You see it all the time
