Props to Beck

this is a wild *** and uneducated guess, but isn't the reason why we don't run the "hurry up" offense, is because our offense is predicated on passing route trees which themselves are based upon the defensive secondary alignment and beck and the receivers need time to read the alignment. and if you run the hurry up, you're snapping the ball before the defense has a chance to get set and more importantly running play calls based upon predetermined routes.

It was a very weird game. We only had 8 offensive possessions, which is crazy low.

But on those 8:

4 Touchdowns
2 field goals
2 punts

34 offensive points on 8 possessions is 4.25 points per drive. Last year, with the best offense we’ve ever seen, we averaged 3.83 points per drive. So, yeah. Not too shabby yesterday.

But we don’t go fast, and we were very efficient but we didn’t have many super quick drives. Pair that with them running for almost 200 yards, you get a very shortened game. But 4.25 a possession is historical for a whole season. We played well on offense. As I said I suspected we would all week because VT is ******* pathetic.
Mario memtioned this in his post game presser. We had only 63 plays so we were very efficient with what we had. That had only 61.

Just don't understand why we went away from Lofton. Seemed to be working earlier in the game. Did VT defense tighten up around middle of the field? Didn't really see them chip Lofton off the line
Not sure either but I didn’t notice a change in coverage but that ain’t saying much. LOL.

Jesus...such miserable people. Plenty of other threads complaining about everything and we finally have one that is a positive and some people just want to **** on everything. It's ok to be positive in one thread a day.
I'll throw in some positivity. That 3rd and 7 to Upshaw might have been the best throw of the game . What a clutch catch as well!

We only had what, 4 drives the whole second half? We scored on two and had two punts. All VT did was run the football and milk a tone of clock

Not only that, but on the 1st drive after VT scored the TD in the 2nd half we ran 5 plays that started behind the line of scrimmage. No ******* urgency by this weird *** program. In the words of 2 Pac **** this program as a staff and record label .ie program!@

Beck's 3 best games so far have all been road games. Maybe not statistically, but he's looked more comfortable and been more accurate than at home. Yes, I know that INT in OT at SMU was a killer, but he was very good up to then.

He is good until the moment he forces the ball to Mali Toney. All of his ints for the most part is because he forces the ball to his security blanket.

What ever changes they made to the offense has made a difference..

Great last 2 games.
Dip**** Shannon will try and lie to our faces and say that the offense hasn’t changed.

Yeah.,,,,,,

2805yds ... 22tds 9ints ... 74% completion ...
Yes sir. He has been excellent for us all season with the exception of one game, where you could make a case that 2 of the INTs vs UL were not totally his fault. Ppl here need to realize the world of **** we would be in if we didn't get him and had to play Emory or Judd all season. Beck has been worth every penny they paid him and then some.
Our OL has been inconsistent at times, the play calling has not been up to standard in every game, we have had injuries at RB and WR and the TEs couldn't catch a cold in a walk-in clinic if they tried. Despite all that, he has performed well and given us a chance to win 10 games again which is huge for the trajectory of the program. Even if he lays an egg next game, which I don't believe he will, it's still been a good investment on our money in my opinion.

I was at the game, it was miserable watching this HC try to plod his team through another ACC game. The QB was on fire, the run game went back to one play again with 170lb freshman back up the middle and kept bogging the offense down. Ridiculous penalties again and the defense finally played a bad game. VT is horrible on both sides of the ball.
You know we won right?

Probably has something to do with the opponents we played...

Not exactly Ohio ST & Oklahoma Defenses out there.
Oh for sure.. he just looks a lot more comfortable and less hard for him. But your point is a big factor

😂😂 I was literally thinking about that watching the game.. I’m like ain’t no way he’s gong to say these the same plays they’ve ran all year

Dmoney made an interesting observation that we’ll probably make sure the next quarterback we bring in is healthy for spring practice. Beck himself pointed out that he didn’t really play for months and it’s taken time to get on the same page with his receivers.

The reality is that he’s been incredibly accurate all year but it’s taken awhile to get the timing down. Even a few of his interceptions have been on target- the receiver just didn’t win the ball.

Offense & Beck need to be on point vs Pitt. They play CBs on an island & bring pressure, so critical that Beck not be harassed to the point of making silly throws.

He played great. He has been on a heater since just before half against Cuse. He needs to be elite against Pitt. That game will be the defining game of his tenure here and really his college career. Most important game we have played in decades. We need to win.

****t on Pitt Carson!
