Depth Chart Today (My Opinion)

PG -1st Lewis 6'2 Soph /2nd Bland 6'3 RS Sr???
2G- 1st Henderson 6'6 Soph /2nd D. Allen 6'4 Soph
SF - 1st Gaskins 6'8 Fr / 2nd Dorn 6'7 Sr
PF- 1st Goode 6'8 Jr/ 2nd M Allen 6'7 RS Fr
C - 1st Cyril 6'11 Jr/ 2nd Birden 6'9 Fr

Back of Bench - Berger (RS Jr/SR??)

Open Spots Guard and Center


Rationale: (a) Henderson moves to 2G ..... Add Size/Use him like Bruce Brown; (b) Gaskins moved to SF ... Add Size; Unless Miami signs a legit backup center... I see backup center being Goode and D Allen getting those minutes.

6th Man is D Allen
7th Man is Dorn
8th Man is Bland (assuming waiver is granted)
9th Man is M Allen

Minutes per Game

Henderson - 31 mpg
Lewis - 31 mpg
Goode - 31 mpg
Gaskins - 28 mpg
Cyril - 22 mpg (I am not sure he can play more minutes)
D Allen - 22 mpg
Dorn - 18 mpg
Bland - 11 mpg
M Allen - 5 mpg (If Bland doesn't get waiver ... his minutes will go to M Allen, assuming he is healthy0
 
So even though I know we're not done just yet, this upcoming season's team looks even better than last seasons team. Crazy, huh?! Comparing the 2 teams looks like this:

Marcus Allen (I hope he's okay to play, he could be a weapon off the bench).

Basically we kept 2 great young Sophomores and one pretty good veteran who hopefully can contribute this season if he's feeling good and is 100% cured! 🤞🤞. We might not have replaced each Senior that left with a player equal to or better than them, but we definitely have added some good depth to replace the Euro players that did not pan out pretty much at all. We still need a backup big and I'm sure he will be able to contribute more than Altuntas did. I am excited as **** for this season. We have depth. We have shooting. We have exciting young players mixed with some veterans. This team could go pretty far but definitely need a backup big for Cyril. It killed us last year having no backup big and basically no bench shooting. Let's go Canes!

I just don’t think Henderson shoots well enough to be the SG. I think he has to play the SF, or even PF. As such, I prefer Dante Allen at SG

If not up to the talent of last seasons' basic 6 man rotation, this team surely has far better depth for Jai to work with.

I don’t think we can throw around the depth word yet until we land a backup big. Currently it’s auto small ball anytime Cyril need a breather and I believe I saw posted on here that he didn’t play many minutes at UGA last year for a starter? You land a competent backup big and this team is DEEP

I will catch hate for this but I will take a Altuntas type right about now. I don’t ask for much from backup bigs at this level. Have the size and play hard. For all Altuntas flaws, which were many, he had the size and played hard.

Mike White didn't play any of Georgia's starters more than 28 min per game, opting to play 6 guys over 20 min and then had another 5 guys in their rotation playing over 10 per game.
 
I think Allen starts. Jai loves his defense and his 3 pt shooting improved as the year went on. needs to hit FTs though (as does everyone).

Yea I didnt want to respond to this earlier to not cause unnecessary dialogue. Butttt Altuntas is *** and thats not the type of big we need.

Now, Robert Miller from LSU. THAT is the type of big you need off the bench. That moves the needle.

Yes the top 6 may have been better last year (obviously we will find out soon enough) but definitely more depth and shooting this season by the looks of it. But you never know how the small conference guys will do in the big bad ACC.

We also cant underestimate the jump players like Shelton, Acaden and Dante can make for next season. They were all freshman last year.

I personally expect Shelton to make a hugeeee jump next year and score nearly 20ppg.

Hey, good point! Man if he scores 20ppg with these players around him, wow. Watch out ACC!! I cannot wait for next season. Let's make a deep tourney run!
