I know I'm the only one that cares, but I think your QB depth chart is on point.

Yea no not really. Sheriffs will be 3rd string not 5th

I'm really looking froward to the spring games ...

This mythology about Shirreffs will finally be over.

Is it really all that ridiculous hype to think Shirreffs is better than a walk-on (Testaverde) and that he'll start the spring ahead of a guy who just got here and will redshirt (Allison)? I don't see anyone claiming that he's going to battle Kaaya for minutes or even unseat Malik, who isn't all that good.

D-money, said Shirreffs can throw it. I like what I saw of Rozier on game day. I'm pretty happy with the QB position. I'm really interested in Gray. He runs through arm tackles. The smaller backs can't. I'm hoping to see something from Edwards. I never was high on him.

D-Money also said Heaps would be the starting QB in 2014 ...

What? I said Kaaya would start and I was the only one saying it. The beat writers were the people saying Heaps would start.

D-Money was definitely all in on Kaaya

Thought it was the other way, but, obviously, you're right. I had a 50/50 shot ... I took it, and missed. I stand corrected, and admit my error.

But to my real point ... You really think Shirreffs will ever play here, beyond mop up duty?

There are a few guys suggesting Shirreffs will be Kaaya's back-up this year, and will contend for a starting spot after Kaaya leaves.

Those are the folks I'm questioning.

I didn't see one guy claim he'd be Kaaya's backup this year. But, admittedly, I think Shirreffs is a guy with a good skill set. I like his brain, his arm, his height and he's a pretty decent athlete to boot. I don't see why you're so down on him.

No worries. I am wrong enough, I don't need the extra help :chuncky:

As for Shirreffs, he really impressed me in camp. I didn't see him during the year, but I understand he progressed very well on the scout team. He is huge (a couple inches taller than Kaaya), has the frame to gain weight and is a surprisingly good athlete. His brother starts for UConn as a running QB. He is probably the smartest player on the team academically and carries himself with confidence. His arm is solid and he throws with accuracy.

My conservative projection for him would be a rich man's Ryan Williams. But he could be better than that. Coley liked the spread and ran a different offense with Rosier at QB. I don't know if Richt will do the same. If Rosier and Shirreffs are battling it out in a pro-style offense, I like Shirreff's chances.

Shirreffs Thread Derailment:

I hope Shirrefffs turns out to be everything you guys say he can be.

I just see a fan-base starving for hope, and willing to cling to anything. And we appear to be clinging to a 2-star recruit, who chose us over Georgetown, Old Dominion, Columbia, Eastern Michigan and VMI ... A guy who didn't get an offer from UGA (even though their QB position was a cluster last year, and their HC is now our HC).

Some folks thought he looked like Ken Dorsey, and was going to be the next coming. Others saw what Paxton Lynch developed into at Memphis, and think Shirreffs will be the next underrated guy with good measurables to develop.

Maybe he will??

But it wouldn't be a bad thing for us to never have to depend on him being our QB. And if he does end up supplanting Rosier, I hope it's because he's "a good player" and not just that he's "less bad".

... Back to our regularly schedule thread.

So with the depth back close to where it needs to be for QBs...any chance Rosier moves positions? WR? Safety? Seems athletic and very little chance of him playing a lot moving forward. I know this depends on Kayaa staying healthy, but he can always get moved back to QB in a pickle.

Mike Smith at LB??? Nah... I think Quarterman moves there so we can have our best players on the field at least by game 3 of the season...
