Practise Tuesday 8/18

Would rather have 3 or 4 really good WR (plus the TEs and RBs) who King can spread the ball around to than have 1 main target all the time.

To me that produces better results, makes it harder on the opp D, and is more fun to watch.

I don't want a go to guy. I want King to be able to choose. Seems extremely obvious now that I typed it out.
I’d rather have one elite guy with 3-4 good WRs behind him.

I think that’s what guys are saying by having a #1 WR. Having that elite playmaker that the D has to account for makes those 3-4 good players look better.

Ahmon was truly elite, and in a scheme like this, every WR would benefit from having a guy like him on the field.

Definitely a fair point

This kid could have been one of the best to ever play here, just tragic

All I know is #1 WR Mike Evans made Johnny manziel look really good... Helps to have a guy who wins all the 50/50 balls... Payton could be that guy. I’m not sure what is holding him back, he has the goods. OT- I sat by his family at the last spring game in Orlando and it sounded like they were not happy about Richt leaving so suddenly and were not sold on Enos. Hopefully they have bought into this staff and Lashlee.

BINGO. With the spread and how everyone is running it there is actually an arms race to see who can stockpile that elite talent. These concepts arent complicated, these guys are winning 1 on 1 battles with impact players. Teams like bama, lsu, clemson, okla, osu, etc. arent tryna put 3-4 good wr on field. They are trying to hoard and stockpile multiple #1 types and put them on field at same time.

Its ok to say the talent level needs to increase and luckily for us we have a scheme that if it does what we expect, will advertise that and we can attract top impact talent. I think the 2020 and 2021 classes have us going in that direction also.

Article from last month going more in depth at recruiting arms race for wr.

Thanks for sharing, makes more sense now.

I want to hear all about Nesta vs. Jarrid Williams in the next scrimmage. Poor Tommy Kennedy was never the same after Silvera knocked him on his back on his way to sacking the QB multiple times. If Williams can handle not only the outside rush from the ends, but the inside rush from Silvera, I'll feel a lot better about the OL.
Nesta plays DT inside and Jarrid Williams plays RT or LT outside I seriously if they'll be matched up against each other.

Imo if it's 5 wrs playing they need to be servicable. Power in numbers rather than depend on an individual.

Watched SMU play live last season way before Enos needed a moving company. So I’m not worried about our offense at all with Lashlee. Baker is on the clock though.
I swear if he calls some exotic blitz on 3rd and 31 I’m going to lose it
