This. Bamas defense absolutely took a step back last year and the year before. Havent been elite for a few years now. Now of course the year we play them that table would turn and analysts are calling this the best Bama defense since 2016. LOL. Smh.

Dude, they're Bama. They're not gonna fall off a cliff. So OK, they have a better defense. But they lost their OC and all their playmakers on offense. Multiple first rounders. Leading rusher in the history of the school. etc. etc. etc. Yeah, they have talent behind them, of course. But I don't think that Week 1 you're going to see a well-oiled machine on that side.

It's another reason I like the under. Early season games are typically sloppy anyway, plus I think their defense will definitely be ahead of their offense. Might be tough sledding for both offenses, especially early in the game.

Lol we are not the 3 teams who can match bama talent wise. We would need to be consistently in the top 5 of recruiting to do that. We have a lot of talented youth and a lot of veterans but if you think the lbs we have now will shed the blocks on inside runs you‘re high af. If we can’t stop the inside run, they will just run the ball and control time of possession. Only chance we have is if we score 35+ points and king plays the way he did pre acl tear.

to say we match up talent wise is true in a few positions but they have more talent depth wise to wear our defense out if we can’t stop the run. They are talented at every position 3 deep.
That is why they play the game! And, we fans cheer! we have a chance.

This just shows how delusional our fan base has become. Getting hyped because we got two five stars and number 11 class this year when bama arguably just signed the best class in last ten years and who have probably around 20 5 stars while we have 2 (Pope I’m not counting)
Yu mean ohio state fans? Cuz there wasn't a pro miami quote in op?

The revisionist history some of these porsters come up with is laughable. I don’t think anyone can argue that a CFB teams roster turns over every year - some years more so than others. And there are very few coaching staffs that don’t have some turnover. Manny has revamped the O side twice and the D side last year. Comparing this years team to last years, or a team from 3, 5, 10, 20 years ago, is asinine.
Not only that, but the 2021 Miami team might be way better than the 2018 Miami team and still get beaten badly by Alabama. I'm pretty sure that this year's Alabama team, even with a bunch of new faces, will be better than the 2018 LSU team. Using past performances, especially ones where the roster and coaching staff has completely turned over, is great for ESPN talk show host. They just want something to discuss but they has little to no effect on the current game's outcome.

King appears to be 100% and is now in year two of the system after having a pretty **** good season last year. He made some big time plays vs Clemson last year, and I think it is safe to say that Clemson last year is probably the closest thing in comparison to what Bama will present. King and this offense may very well be the best Bama will play all year. its going to be an interesting matchup.

So based on several of your replies, are saying Bama is unbeatable?
Be realistic and trust the Vegas line. We are an 18 point dog which gives us a 1 in 5 shot at winning this game. Bet on covering the spread as Vegas rarely takes into full account the impact of returning starters for game 1 of the year.

Yes, they lost a lot on offense, but wouldn't that be countered with what we lost on defense?

Yes, it's early and neither will be in peak condition, but that applies to both teams. Their OL is more experienced than our DL. Our linebackers, huge question mark and it doesn't look promising until they show otherwise.

Hopefully the backend is a strength out of the gate, but if we can't stop them running the ball, they won't even need to test us there. I know they've got a new QB to break in, but that dude is legit as ****.

well, people thought we had the talent to line up and beat LSU in dallas three years ago, and it was pretty clear after that game that we were way behind the top of the SEC. i doubt our team was intimidated going into that game ranked in the top 10 vs a team barely in the top 25. turned out that we had some NFL guys on that team, but LSU had burrow, edwards-helaire, justin jefferson, jamarr chase etc... and none of them even needed to do much for them to kick our ***. our coaching in that game was poor as was our QB play, getting better in those two departments can take you a long way. can we hold up in the trenches? i have my doubts. we'll see.
we could have won that game but for our punter.

I believe we’re gonna come out and punch Bama in the mouth. What makes Bama great is that they usually respond to all aggression. I wanna see what we do after they hit back.

This is the only way we have a shot of winning IMO. Hypothetically speaking - come out on offense, rip off a TD early and get the crowd to shut up because you know it'll be 80% inbred Bammer fans. Parlay that with a stop on defense, and now there's a little tension developing in the air...we can ease into the game, run our playbook and execute it, while on the opposite side Bama realizes that we're not scared and they won't be able to coast to a victory like they normally do.

If the contrary happens...we go 3 and out with King running for his life again, Bama churns off 5 min of clock pounding the rock and puts up 7 (or vice versa depending on who gets the ball first), we get the ball back and punt again...then it'll be a long, long afternoon. Have to set the tone early and show both Bama and the rest of the world that we're ready to compete with the big boys.

Is Harvey working with LBs something we should keep a eye on or is this just something to keep him in in tune incase we dropping him back in coverage or go to a heavy set package on D to stop a run scheme?
Not sure if it was mentioned but the Inside the U podcast mentioned Curtis being out for the past 5 days or so.

We have a good team... to beat Bama you need to play excellent in all 3 facets of the game. Your gonna need to have some breaks go your way. Its gonna be hard to do all that the 1st game of the season, but if we're gonna catch them its gonna be the 1st game

Is Bama beatable? Yes every team is beatable.

Remember when people thought Nebraska wasnt beatable? Schnelly didn't believe that

Or Houston was unbeatable? Jimmy V didnt believe that

Well, the line is 18 for a reason. I’m not saying they’re going to blow or Miami wins 48-10. Just pointing out that there are some indicators that show you shouldn’t be that surprised if it’s a closer game than most people would expect.

By the way, “their OL is more experienced than our DL”. Not sure you can go quite that far. Yeah we know what we lost on the edge, but they’re replacing 3 starters as well. A first rounder, the best center in the country, and a 6th rounder. Their 2 back are Evan Neal (absurdly good) and Emil Ekiyor, who started all 13 games last year but missed the spring. They’ve got some experienced backups, but nothing crazy. I’d say it’s probably a wash considering what we have coming back at DT as far as experience.

They also lost their OL coach, Kyle Flood. Maybe there’s a little bit of an issue there with a new OC and OL coach. But who did they hire to coach the line? Doug ******* Maronne. Yes, the guy who has been an NFL head coach. To coach the offensive line. El oh ******* el this program.

Hey man, you dont have to convince me. Im taking the +18.5 on this game. While I think their defense will be stout...I also think our defense will be equally as stout and will hold their own for 4 quarters and keep us in this game. We **** sure wont be out conditioned. I havent seen our defense get tired since Feeley got here.

guess you have selective reading cause one porster thinks we are one of 3-5 teams that can match the talent of bama. Bamas 3rd team would start at most p5 teams. They’re coming off the best recruiting class in ten years. It’s not slurping, it’s called reality, try it.
Jus cuz yu say so doesn't make it tru! Too early f4 slobbing bama's depth chart. And, who is bamas 3rd team? Since yu kno they will start f4 most teams?..ill wait!

What makes Bama great is having a roster full of 5-stars led by the GOAT coach lol. They respond to all aggression because their players are faster, bigger, stronger, and better coached.
Yes having the goat coach matters but UGA is full of 5 stars and don’t bite back..

I’ve been going back & forth in my head about what we should do if we win the toss. I was at the OU & Bama playoff game a few years back and I remember the entire Oklahoma sideline look confused as **** when Lincoln didn’t take the ball first. Everybody in the arena knew Bama couldn’t stop Oklahoma and the only chance was to hit first. I kinda feel the opposite with Miami, if we win give them the ball and it’s time for manny to be aggressive. Rattle Bryce
