Practice #7

Keep sleeping on Zion. He’s gonna **** around and be in the 2 deep his true freshman season. As someone else said, him coming in early has been huge(as it has been for Payton and Harvey) All the haters are gonna look real silly when he turns into a big time player for us.

Glad the QBs are continuing to improve. Not gonna overreact ab Jeff, but Harley and Wiggins need to be on the Jugs machine everyday until this is no longer a problem.

Jon Ford taking that next step is a massive development.

Overall, I like what I’m hearing. Here’s to an injury free 1st scrimmage.

Displaying concern that an undersized early enrollee is playing first team left tackle does not rise to the level of "hater" IMO. Of course the coaches are shuffling the deck in the Spring. If he's that good let him play, but if this is more about the talent level of the returning players than it is about Zion's readiness then we have a major problem.

We keep telling them don’t we? Based on all the information that’s out there, right now, this is still a three-man race and probably still will be heading into summer practises. Nobody is out of it, including N’Kosi.

But people gotta do the dumb shlt and play the favorites game. Then when they don’t get their favorite in, it’s all a conspiracy and bad coaching.
All N'Kosi has done since his fresh start, is work the hardest out of all the qb's in the off-season program (according to the coaches criteria), earn high praise from Enos regarding the only "scrimmage like" practice so far, and most importantly, has begun to show some consistency.

Now, we are hearing that Tate is starting to show signs of improvement and is becoming more comfortable in the offense. According to reports, Jarren has made a huge jump with his development as well.

How can anyone not be excited about these guys making each other better every day? With ALL THREE having a legitimate shot at being "the guy", we will get their best effort throughout this battle. In the end, Miami wins!

lololol but #stolen from me! however, I grant all free use!

Maybe Thomas was in the slot

This is kind of my point, if the opposing team can put their best WR in the slot and that means we have a striker against him, thats an issue. When this striker idea materialized, I looked at it as a guy too athletic/lean for traditional LB but too big and stiff for a safety, which would help in covering TE, or RB on obvious passing downs... unless they are chipping the number 1 WR off the line, even in the slot or a double with underneath coverage, makes no sense for the striker to be more than 10 yards down the field with a number 1.

I wouldn't go live just wrap up and let go.
Agree. I would allow some contact in a rugby style (bear hug) for the QBs, but no taking to the ground or anything below the waist. This way the QBs get that "fear of contact" out of the way without the concern for injury. They need the simulation of live bullets to better prepare for the real thing.

Just make sure our QB's arent dumb as$es like Franks and lowers his head trying to truck defensive players then gets up talking ish when the defensive players are only allowed to wrap up.

A 260lb kid who presently should be goofing off at his high school in Sumter, SC is running with the 1s at Miami.

Do we love this or hate this?
It’s just the 7th practice though.
However if you look at the draft as well as the pro bowl, it’s full of low ranked tackles or players that switched positions.
So it’s either really really bad or really really good.
Very rare to have a freshman take snaps at left tackle at a top program with the 1’s.
However, this is all speculation cause no one knows
anything.
I’m worried that it’s actually bad. Reason being that it’s the poorest job we’ve done in recruiting over the last few years.
Yes it’s possible we struck gold with the kid.
But the way we’ve recruited the position it’s possible that an average or below average LT can crack the starting spot.

Why does it have to be one or the other. Why can’t it be the coaches like what they see so far and want to see how he fares playing the spot. He HAS to be throughly impressing, Diaz not just going to put anybody out there just to do it. Kennedy is a redshirt senior and he’s not even giving him reps with the ones which says to me Zion is doing well so far

You guys are out playing the “so and so is gonna mess around or **** around and gonna start” bit...

I don't know if Richt ever had the QBs doing these type of drills, but Enos has me excited!!! Obviously this is a touch pass drill to put the ball over the the DL and LBs just underneath the DBs.

Enos gives me a feeling that our QBs are in good hands. Now, it up to the QBs to grind and bring these skills to the games.
