Pound the rock.

Only problem with pounding it out is the limited number of drives...
...which means no dumb penalties that can short circuit drives ....and you have score pretty much every time you have the ball.

FSUs offense is better than UFs so we cant rely on only scoring 13 for most of the game and win. we gotta convert the long drives into 6 and not field goals. their defense isnt as good as UFs or NDs which is a good thing for our offense especially beck whos gotten a bit turnover happy recently along with the center snap stuff/delay of games.

First one to 30 wins.

My money is on FSU never getting there, and we do.

they are reverse teams. Uif good defense being held back by a terrible offense.

FSpoo, bad defense holding back a good offense. But not good enough.

These games rarely seem to go how most people expect, especially when strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies seem so obvious.

Guessing they’ll have better success defending the run than we expect. They’ll adjust for it, but we’ll still get ours. And Beck/WRs/TEs will do more damage than they did against ND and UF, probably more yards and passing TDs than you’d expect.

Just a hunch.
The only way they adjust to it is by putting more guys in the box than we can block. Do that, and Beck goes for 350+.

agree with pound the rock, but with tempo so that they can't substitute. we need 5 minute drives with little to no substitution.

remember, fatigue makes cowards.
Miami rarely goes tempo. I wish we did it a little more to put points on the board. I’m not saying go full blown tempo because it kills the defense but just a smidge more.

Im fine with pounding the ball as long as it’s not 6 dives up the middle in a row. Set up the play action.

Easy read on this game. Who performs better?

-- Miami rushing offense or FSU rushing defense.
-- Carson Beck vs their CBs/S.
-- Shannon Dawson sometimes underwhelming prevent play-calling.

Defense is consistently badass; they are a factor but only a story of the game if they don't show up. The W-L outcome of this game will be almost wholly decided by our offensive production.

Expect Dawson to lean on Fletch and Brown in the beginning--get control of the game and the crowd, get some points on the board, tire out their D. Then open up the playbook a little and sling rock to Toney/D.Jr (hopefully see Ny/JoJo get baked in too)

Miami offensive rushing stats vs FSU rushing defensive stats (vs. FBS (I-A) only). I was being more conservative, feel free to filter on P5. (https://cfbstats.com/2025/national/index.html)

That plus weather possibly:

Stats, plus talent line on both sides, and ballers particularly on Defense. Memphis Mike's team is overrated fool's gold. The media is always eager to glaze them up; that Alabama team that played this past weekend wasn't the same one that played them in Week 1. Miami exposes them for what they are, 7-5 MID--at best--destined for Annapolis Military Bowl against ECU. I'm going with a similar score and spread as last years' outcome. I'm taking the Canes 35 over Florida State 13.

I realize it’s not going to be exciting for some people, especially those who enjoy explosive plays, but when I look at this matchup between our offense and Tony White’s 3-3-5 defense, Fletcher/Brown should be able to have a massive game running through the teeth of this Nole defense. If you’re going to run 3 down linemen you better have some absolute dudes that eat up space and wreak havoc, but right now instead it looks like Free Shoes has a bunch of JAGS. We should be able to physically impose our will in the trenches on both sides but I really like our O-Line vs. their D-Line. Obviously, you wanna take some shots downfield to keep them honest, but I could see us rushing for two-two fitty in this game. Is this how everyone else sees this game playing out?
Miami are definitely going to cave ball.

Nolecast said they thought Virginia tempo hurt FSU and FSU didn't have the conditioning to keep up and that was the difference in the game, I would like to see Dawson try some of that occasionally even though overall the plan seems to be run out the clock and limit snaps and keep the defense fresh.

I know the trend is to kick it if you win the toss.

But I'm torn. Win the toss and get a 3 and out would be great.

Or win the toss then just have a grown man 9-12 play drive where you basically do what you want.

But we could also kick it, go 3 and out and then have that grown man drive and that crowd will feel very uneasy 8-10 minutes into quarter 1.

They released their depth chart and made their backup TE a backup DE. Too bad for them he's a little light in the ***. 6'4", 220.

what i mean by tempo, is that we get to the line and at least simulate tempo to avoid substitution even if we don't end up running tempo.

UF gameplan...but better convert more drives to scores.

There is no mystery to how Miami is built to win.
As much as I hate to give UF any credit, but their defense is far superior to FSU, especially their front 7. If we cant impose our will against them, its going to be a really looooooong season.

Like it sputtered against ND and USF?

Come on man. Beck had a poor passing game against a very good secondary and now we are pretending like UM can’t pass? Any point can be taken so far as to become ridiculous.
I said when a passing game starts to sputter meaning it didn’t happen yet, it’s a primary identity of the offense is a physical running game. You’re still gonna have to have a good passing game to offset it by time November rolls around there’s gonna be a ton of tape on our tendencies of what we like to do, that’s all I’m saying.

More often than makes sense high school play callers are often superior to college guys who feel compelled to show how smart and clever they are. High schools willing to run play A repeatedly until you prove you can stop it

I remember being so proud of Richt against App State. They lined their CBs 10 yards back on seemingly every play, AND had them playing on their toes for a whole drive, and we just kept running the same pop screen play repeatedly for an easy 5-6 yard gain.

EVERY SINGLE OL PLAYER ON ROSTER gets at least 3 tunnel screen pass play opportunities or GTFOH Dawson.

I would love a tackle eligible touchdown pass to CiCi.

Preferably as icing on the cake for the final score in national title game.

His last play on offense for the Hurricanes as he moves onto the National Football League
