Pound the rock.

As much as I hate to give UF any credit, but their defense is far superior to FSU, especially their front 7. If we cant impose our will against them, its going to be a really looooooong season.
We’ve already beaten three pretty good teams, one of the toughest schedules to date, and you think it may be a loooooooooong season? GTFOOH

I imagine that FSU will eventually try to load the box because our running game. That's when you do the PA seam or fly and try to get one of your speedsters in a 1 on 1 situation and get them the ball. Hopefully Beck has a bounce back from last game, but if our running game does what it's supposed to do, he's not going to have to work especially hard.

Or they play it like last year and die by a thousand cuts. Pick your poison.

We all know Mario isn't going to go easy of them...

I just hope we see ALOT more of Lofton getting that PA into the flats. It's an easy throw and will keep defenses honest. We went away from it against UF for some reason

My thing about slow tempo and pounding the rock is it increases variance. You usually want to do this when you are the team at a talent disadvantage, like what ga tech or the service academies try to do.

Winning time of possession and wearing down the defense is great. But when you have a conservative coach like Mario who punts 3 times from the 40 going in, by shortening the game you are keeping the opponent alive longer.

Last game was a perfect example. Gators were getting their asses kicked, but you look up and it’s 13-7. Clock ticks, Miami possessed the ball and looks dominant, Miami not ahead by wide margin on the scoreboard. Happened vs Notre dame too, to a lesser extent.

So yeah, pound it on any team that can’t stop it. But stop being a ***** on 4th down and go score some ******* points.

I’ve posted something similar. Completely agree. I’m totally fine with pounding the rock and FIZICAL, but I think the pace has been TOO slow. And overall we’ve been very conservative and lacking the killer instinct. Not trying to score with 1:20 on the clock before halftime vs UF is a great example. Need to be a little more aggressive.

Not going for points before half drove me insane. Other teams try with :30 on the clock.

I just worry that stuff will catch up to us at some point.

I realize it’s not going to be exciting for some people, especially those who enjoy explosive plays, but when I look at this matchup between our offense and Tony White’s 3-3-5 defense, Fletcher/Brown should be able to have a massive game running through the teeth of this Nole defense. If you’re going to run 3 down linemen you better have some absolute dudes that eat up space and wreak havoc, but right now instead it looks like Free Shoes has a bunch of JAGS. We should be able to physically impose our will in the trenches on both sides but I really like our O-Line vs. their D-Line. Obviously, you wanna take some shots downfield to keep them honest, but I could see us rushing for two-two fitty in this game. Is this how everyone else sees this game playing out?

FSU’s run defense looks suspect. Absolutely lean on them in the trenches. That’s the way to go.

Random ?; anyone knows if the Florida Cup is still awarded, & if so, is it in the Hecht on display?

Yeah, I expect 40 carries minimum and I’ll be disappointed if we aren’t well over 4.5/carry. Like you said, it won’t be **** but there is no doubt what our objective will be here. I also expect them to run blitz on early downs and have some occasional twists and stunts to try to disrupt and put us behind the chains. I hope we are prepared to throw some wrinkles in there occasionally off of those same run looks we give 25 times a game.
