Don’t think that means much. It’s the same for McCoy and Samson. They had guys ahead of them at the tackle positions. Get in where u fit in type situation for him. But Meriweather def sees himself as a tackle and he’s built like one as well. His twitter says Left tackle.
Mirabel & Mario will figure it out. We’ll see how it develops, but see him as a guard or 6th OL. Played a minimal backup role in 3rd year at Georgia & hasn’t started since high school. If he opens season as starting LT with our new high-priced QB, then Mirabel is even better than advertised.
Would you see a scenario where Buchanon starts at Center, then you have McCoy/Samson/Merriweather, and Cantwell at the other spots? Rodriquez at Center is what scares me the most. Moten and Scott are going to abuse him in practice this spring
Rodriguez at RG makes the most sense. He won that job in '24 and assuming we're starting Cantwell at RT and have a first time starter at C (SJ?), I like the idea of him slotting a veteran in between two younger OL.
Didn't he only start against Florida because McCoy was dinged up during fall camp? There will be a lot of competition come March, and we'll find the 5 best guys. They just need to be good enough to hold up well against ND and Clemson
I’d be shocked if RR isn’t the center. That’s always been his spot even though he was a swing guy at guard when McCoy was out but center is pretty much the huge betting favorite for him.
There’s a few locks but he’s definitely going to be in the rotation. It comes down to what happens with Pancake or McCoy outside.
The only way Rodriguez wouldnt be starting center is if SJ at Center is better than Buchanan+Meriweather at Guard. Just seems very unlikely.
Meriweather is the sneaky one to watch at tackle, likely a guard but there’s raw talent there and imo I see some Bell to his game . Other than Center nothing would shock me. I could see one of three guys at LT
