Potential Portal DB’s (CB’s & S’s only)

I never said I was perfect & my comment I had nothing to do with my own personal view of EK.

My point was, you said people would still be *****ing about EK if we landed Tacario & I pointed out why people were *****ing about EK in the first place.

Here's the facts:

That's not my personal opinion, that's the empirical data concerning EK.

How does someone watch his film & come away with anything other than what the data shows, is a work of mental gymnastics & trying to create a narrative in order to sell people on the idea of overlooking the data & the film.

There is no objective way to watch EK's film & come away with any other conclusion, it's simply not possible. So how does someone watch bad film & come away with a "positive" outlook on it?

That's all I'm saying. And that's why people are reacting that way, because it's commensurate to the actual play that they're seeing.

You notice how people didn't react that way when Brantley committed? Isn't it weird how pretty much the entire board thought it was a good pick up? You know why? Because there's proof in data & on film that he's actually a good CB.

You know why people have been feeling the opposite about EK, because there isn't any.

So I Guess we will see what the reaction is if we land Tacario Davis huh lol. Oh wait maybe we shouldn’t share his pff grade? After all what did he finish the season with a 61.0 grade to Karnleys 60.8? Lol

And see the thing is like I said a week ago I do not at all believe more than like 5 people on cis have watched Karnley play lol. Second of all he is a rs fr who played what 6 games? It’s clearly about traits and potential.

I was one of the first to say the dude was cheeks but my question is what are these coaches seeing? And I’m not just talking this staff I’m taking about Michigan and etc. Is it just because he has size and supposedly good speed with years of eligibility and they think they can mold him?
Michigan only signed 1 CB from HS in their 2024 class & brought in 4 DB's via Portal, 3 of which aren't returning.

They need depth.

EK had a 53.5 grade this season.

And he played in 9 games this season, the reason why he didn't start the full 12 is because he got benched.

And here's the difference between EK & TD, you can actually show a season lengths of good film with data to support on TD being a good CB, can the same be done with EK?

Oh ok I’m just wondering because he is rated high and I’m like these people can’t be looking at the same guy

Who knows what some of these coaches see, or what they think they can do with the skillset they see. Remember Tommy Kennedy, the OT that came here from Butler? Remember how bad he was? He had offers from Oklahoma, Texas and Boston College. Everyone sees it differently.

Scanned your pics too quickly and put his 23 grade which was 60.

do you think He is going to be better or worse than Richard? Do you think he will be better or worse than Ryan Mack? Do you think he will be better or worse than Damari Brown?

….

The same as Richard.

Better than Mack & Brown.

But that's all relative.

Because none of them are good.

Being better than someone who's awful is just a low bar value judgement, it doesn't mean you're good.

So it's an upgrade to the cb room.

Tell me how many elite Portal CBs you think we should realistically be able to bring in on one winter portal period.

Clearly the staff got Brantley. We clearly want one or both of Davis and O'Conner. Clearly we are the leaders for a Lucas if he is ever freed from being held hostage - even if you personally view him as a Safety. Like what realistic CB 3 or 4 are we actually getting that isn't looking at that PLUS OJ, and saying Im coming here? You HAVE to get a guy that has multiple years. Who fitting that criteria of being a development piece is willing to come knowing almost certainly he's looking at being CB4 at best this yr? Lol. And that's with you not liking Damari when the staff does, and you viewing Lucas as a A, when Staff probably doesn't even lol.

I just honestly think y'all aren't being realistic. Dude is intended ok being CB 3 or 4 in this portal period AND you just said he's likely as good or better than 3 guys returning next yr lol. AND you still like Dyoni Hill id bet! Like I just honestly don't know what more the staff could do to make people happy assuming we do get one more of Conner/Davis...

You know what you're right.

I'm not going to keep explaining this to you because you clearly are missing the point.

You think he's bad. I think he's the best we can realistically get as a CB3/4 because he still improves the room. It's that simple.
Replacing a bad player with another bad player doesn't improve the room.

There's a ton of good serviceable CB's that could be brought in for the same purpose, that are still available who actually improve the room.

Trading one JAG for another JAG results in having a JAG in your CB rotation, which means when they're in the game, they're a liability.

And I don't think he's bad... I KNOW he is.

... Guess we will just see and I'm sure all preconceived judgments won't carry forward to his actual performance as a Cane lol
