I agree that keeping turnovers to a minimum is key for winning but the best quarterbacks don’t turn it over a lot anyway. I didn’t care for Will Howard because he’s more interception prone than TVD and we don’t need another year of double digit picks. Bama had Hurts and Tua. Clemson had Watson and Lawrence. Michigan had a perfectly good game manager type in Cade McNamara but they didn’t make the jump until they benched him for JJ McCarthy. So even a conservative offense benefits from having a difference maker at QB.

To put it in perspective for our guys. I believe Cam Ward makes us 10+ win team with a realistic shot at the conference championship and a playoff invite. Maybe even a dark horse natty contender. With one of the other, lesser transfers, I don’t see us being more than another 9 win also-ran. Can you win a championship with an average quarterback? Maybe but you better be elite at every other position. Having a playmaker who can bail you out when everything isn’t working perfectly makes things a lot easier.

Just read your prior comment and see you like him. Most of us share that opinion.

People don’t know ball. True freshmen who had to play against 2 of the best defenses in college football last year and people think he stinks lol. I liked him when I saw what he did in the elite 11. Might not be the best athlete or a freak but he gives me Dorsey type vibes not saying that’s who he will become but that’s the comp

That last part just isn't true. Even his much maligned "color-coded spreadsheet" was being revised on an ongoing basis. He shared that spreadsheet on the weekly Zoom call multiple times, it was not some "prediction of who was going to sign" but was constantly updated on how hard we were recruiting certain guys and how receptive those guys were to UM.

Brad is a good guy. No need to pile on the guy. Has he posted anything here in two years that bothers anyone?

It’s one thing (as much as I cringe to say it) that made Jordan Travis so great. He was a playmaker but he also just did not turn the ball over. Frustrating as **** to play against

I’m a bit shocked how much love FSU is getting knowing full well they are downgrading huge at QB and WR. I don’t think DJU is the worst thing at QB, but Travis was better in every way by a long shot

The coaches definitely didn’t want to play him last year. He was not ready. They just had no other choice. I mean they ran out a one legged TVD against UVA and NCState because they thought that was the better option than Williams. Then they went out and signed two transfer quarterbacks so that tells me the coaches are still not confident in him. They’ll probably redshirt him this year. Next year he’ll get a shot to compete with Poffenbarger and likely, another transfer. I’m not at practice so I can only make guesses based on the decisions the coaches make.

I hated that dude but there’s no doubt he was the engine that made their offense run. I watched a lot of FSU and their entire passing game was the scramble drill. The more you pressured him, the more ridiculous play he would pull out of his ***. There’s no way DJ can replicate that.

I’m not going to get into it further more he’s just really annoying and acts like a wannabe insider. Sometimes it’s best to stay quiet over certain things.

I think people miss the forest for the trees regarding what happened last year with Emory. God bless the guy but none of that was about him.

The narrative is our coaches suck and that's what's holding us back. I think Clemson and FSU was all Mario, Dawson, and Guidry. They don't get NEARLY enough credit (locally but also nationally) for what they were able to do during that stretch.

-The 335 yards we put up on FSU was the most yards they had given up in their last 9 regular season games
-The 322 yards they put up was the 2nd least of the Travis era, only beaten by the 311 yards Clemson held them to
-The 362 yards we put up on Clemson was the 3rd most yards they gave up all season
-The 345 yards they put up was the 4th least

Say what you want about this coaching staff, those results are f***ing coaching dude. Emory was just a pawn in that game plan. This coaching staff almost took down both of the top 2 teams in the ACC with Emory, the true freshman, as the QB.

In the 5 games we lost TVD threw 9 INTs. And all those games were 1 score in the 4th. I think the staff had this team in position to be a 10 win team but you cannot overcome what happened to TVD.

Yep. With a team that was less talented at every position except arguably Safety, C and 1 OG spot, far less talented in certain spots like QB, RB, LB, DE. The Ga Tech debacle has clouded everyone's judgment. But it's on the coaches to prove the doubters wrong this season.

All things considered, the staff did a decent job of playing the hand they were dealt.

He’s a legend for that play against FSU already for me. I know he gets a lot of flack here so I understand why my comment could be taken a certain way.

Was hoping Poff could establish himself better so that Emory could just keep working on his craft and not be forced into a position like that where he gets a brutal injury that sets him back.

I like how the room has been trending with Nickel and the focus on the portal rather than dumping tons of NIL on high school QBs

It's important to remember most of these comments you read are based on media getting 20 minutes of access prior to us really getting to work. Past that it's second hand info more often than not. Like vermin for instance. Every single time throughout the years I've seen him at practice it's the beginning of practice and they've got him tucked away in a corner **** near by himself next to the indoor. Meanwhile we're outside getting in some work on the far side field outside... The access some people pretend they have for their own purpose is tremendously exaggerated. Poff hasn't been struggling. Honestly none of the QB room has from what I've seen or heard. But in camp they really shouldn't anyhow.

Last thing I'll say is I think you're mistook about us focusing on the portal for QBs. Mario simply is realistic with himself when it relates to our needs. He listens to staff about where we're at and how do we make progress. For the time being & where the rest of the team was at it makes sense for us to turn around and bring in a high level proven QB who can help us now... But don't think for a second if we have the choice between a highs school QB who we think is gonna play at a high level & a short term portal fix that we would take the portal QB.

I’m not sure Emory has left the facility the last 6 months, that’s the amount of work he’s put in.

Cam’s obviously the clear cut 1, it goes without saying. Emory’s the 2, most importantly with the guys he lines up with.

Sorry to say haters but Emory’s here to stay and he’s only going to get better.

It’s all good Bunker, nothing personal. A lot of these guys would take JB back over Emory in a heartbeat. Just parts of the anyone but the guy who went clutch against Clemson and almost led you to victory over a top 5 team in the road against your rival. All while being ****ed around with the following couple weeks and getting no PT in favor of an uncommitted slug.

Don’t try to make sense of it.
