What is it that you saw on film that impressed you?

For me, something I'm learning to put more value in is motor for DL. So many pressures/sacks are the result of pure, unadulterated effort. I rated McConathey about where sites had him because I didn't value his combination of first step quickness, motor, length enough.

Even though I'm typically drawn to production and motor, I feel like I let the fact that Alabama didn't chase him hard cloud my eyes I think.

The feedback I've gotten from two different places today is that he is going to play a ton and even had some looks with players who might be first on the field at the beginning of a game. Score one for the coaches above my evaluation.
It was pretty apparent in his film.

He wasn't just pushing over smaller highschool OL and getting free shots at little QBs.

He was playing the position at a technically sound level. Setting the edge, and containing both the run and scrambling QBs.

All with an extreme motor and good bend.

Wouldn't surprise me if McConathey is drafted highest from his class.

Definitely Cane material. But I did not see the Bain level burst in his HS highlights. I actually thought the other three DEs showed more burst, tbh.

I'm going to racially profile the kid. He reminds me 100% of Chickillo. What I saw was an exceptional motor and impressive production. Very high floor if not elite ceiling. But that's JMHO. I respect yours a lot.
I definitely disagree but same time, to the bigger point, we just brought in a ruthless DE class. None of them will be forced into carrying the team like Bain had to, so now we can have them as luxuries this year

The veterans can take care of business and if one or two of these guys step up, it’s just going to make everything easier, but they don’t HAVE to like Bain

Need to keep Cam healthy all year-

Not enamored with either backup-

I like Nickel coming in next year-

Anderson, hopefully will make a jump with year under his belt.

If Ward has the type of season he should, we’ll have zero issue finding a portal guy next offseason. If Emory Williams goes into a season QB1 at Miami it’s an organizational failure. Why some of you are so willing to die on the hill he should be a starter for us one day is beyond me.
Ik he was only a Freshman but yaa just didn't see it respect your honesty! I think we will be fine in the portal especially of Cam balls out. And it's not much depth in front of whoever comes in. I like what I seen of Poff I think he will look alot better as time goes. I also think alot had to do with the plays they were running for Emory but who could blame em they didn't wanna blow his confidence or games on his mistakes tried to run an play D

We just have a lot of fans that seem to be enamored with having QBs that are net zeroes instead of quarterbacks that are the reason we win games. Idk if they think every slow white guy with a mediocre arm is destined to be Dorsey or what, but Emory’s lack of mobility, slow wind up/release, and average at best arm talent would require the rest of the team to just be absolutely phenomenal to hang with good teams week in and out.

And I’m sure someone will come in here and say “Well we won the Clemson game” as if that was a good team or we won because of Emory, not despite him, or say he was just a freshman as if he didn’t struggle to win games at the high school level.

if u were in his recruiting thread when we offered i probably was the FIRST to say go all in on him because he has one thing i look for in DL......MOTOR.

Me playing Left tackle for years...its something i know to be a problem..and something i have an uncanny ability to evaluate right away after all the hours of having to watch practice film and game film as a player and then some as a coach.

I had high ratings on Cole and was happy as **** when he flipped i stated Louisville was getting a steal out of Bama.
