If he’s all about “instilling the culture”, why wait?Because he knows that he would be making beds in a burning house. Screaming at guys who aren't going to be here next year.

But we never even saw it towards the refs. He really lacked any fire all season on the sidelines.I think he saw that his team is mostly made up of pussies who will fold if he continues to do that. Turns out they folded regardless of his demeanor on the sideline. My guess is we will see more of that moving forward as the babies are removed from the team.
Mario is not Mark Richt.Let’s be real here guys. Mario screwed up the first year badly and he knows that he did. He’ll never admit it publicly but he knows.
My opinion is that 90% of the reason we didn’t meet expectations (a 9-3 type season) was because of the coaching (primarily on the offensive side of the ball). Some here disagree and have been saying the bulk of the reason is the players not the coaches.
Either way he missed on both fronts. He hired a coaching staff that did not get the most out of our personnel and he also did not do enough in the portal last off-season. He gets his chance to rectify that today, this is his second shot at it. He absolutely deserves criticism (and I’ve been one to do so) but all we can do now is watch what changes he makes.
Given the size of his contract unfortunately the program’s future is tied to him for quite some time. I’m hopeful that he will make the necessary changes. But if we’re in year 4 or 5 and his plan is not working I also hope that Mario is big enough to step aside.
My son, who doesn’t watch football, was so confused why the dude was needlessly doing that.Look at how the Pitt player grabs Van Dykes arm after he had already taken him to the ground. Grabbed it and pushed it back while continuing to hold his arm in a pretty unnatural way
There are plenty of JAGs in the 11 he did pick up. The portal is not going to solve all of your problems. All he did was question Mario for not going harder in the portal last year, which is justifiable. If there was such a locker room problem/culture problem he had 4-5 months to see that in spring and being around these kids in the beginning of the year to bring in transfers in May and June. After this season you have to ask “why didn’t he pick up more than 11 guys in the portal?”
The decision to put him on the field. What was dirty about that?
I agree 100%. But with so many problems on the roster why didn’t he let a few more go?There are plenty of JAGs in the 11 he did pick up. The portal is not going to solve all of your problems.
Lashlee scored touchdowns with a **** culture. The “culture” excuse explain 8-4 not 12-0. Culture isn’t the cause of middle ten and Duke BLOWOUTS IMO. We saw some of the worst offensive play design, play calling/sequencing and execution of my life. The defense side is a total mess too but they at least showed up on half their series when they were not making catastrophic errors.I believe he can be successful here. This year didn't go as planned and when the team quit on him, he didn't fight to get them back. The team had Manny's back because he allowed a ****** culture but they would at least try for him. Only a small faction of the team has Mario's back and I think he decided to just write the year off and start from scratch with his first full recruiting class.
An additional note is that I think he realized Gattis and his preferred system was going nowhere which made trying to salvage the team hopeless. You can cover a lot of culture and locker-room issues up with good schemes (Lashlee) but you in the absence of schematic advantage you only compound your pre-existing deficiencies. Firing Gattis will send a clear message - along with purging the roster - that he is building UM for the long-haul in the fashion of Harbaugh at Michigan.
If he doesn't fire Gattis though... then its an Al Golden situation and we're doomed.
This is a red flag within itself. Mario and Mirabal should have left those two in Eugene.I agree 100%. But with so many problems on the roster why didn’t he let a few more go?
A few of those JAGs actually were pretty successful elsewhere (Caleb Johnson and Daryl Porter) and 2 of those JAGs, I’m not sure I would even call them JAGs (Denis and Sagapolu) followed Mario here.
Stop with saying this team has no talent! Has more talent than every team we lost to! Except Clemson who took two Ls to trash teams. If TVD was put in the same exact offense he had last year putting up big numbers he would be in the conversation as one of the best players in the country also, but he ain’t a leader like that though. Injuries also killed us. But what killed us the most was coaching! These coaches have to go man!1. USC got the best QB in CFB from the portal; just so happens he was Riley's old QB at OU as well.
2. I'm not sure what the talent-level and depth at USC was, but ours is very poor.
Caleb Williams is not only the best player in CFB this season but he's also a leader.
Mario will improve the talent and build a physical football team, but a lot of our issues start with locker room culture and leadership.

We all doMario looks defeated and like he lost 10 years of life. Sad to see his look in the postgame.
Good call!He’s a true sophomore! I done told ya’ll bout those classes of ‘18 - ‘20. Smdh
He’s not but if he’s endured 4-5 years of this maybe he can grow to be like mark richtMario is not Mark Richt.
To be honest he looks like a guy who’s sick of this roster and knows he made grave mistakes in the hiring process. Knows there’s a ton of more work to do and will have to have sleepless nights recruiting talent here.Mario looks defeated and like he lost 10 years of life. Sad to see his look in the postgame.
If he’s not, then I’m really concernedTo be honest he looks like a guy who’s sick of this roster and knows he made grave mistakes in the hiring process. Knows there’s a ton of more work to do and will have to have sleepless nights recruiting talent here.
