Plus:
+We Won
This was my 4th trip to Chapel Hill to see the Canes and it was the first time I drove home after a W. DGAF how it happened. Also, since I just got home, I have no idea what the running narrative has been on the board all day since the game ended. Don't really care either.
+Jeff Thomas
Scored another TD on a deep ball and looked more comfortable out there as the game went on. Shook off some early mistakes and finished off the game well.
+Michael Jackson
Dude is racking up turnover chains this season
#NotAJewler . Also, that deflection he had down the sideline was a thing of beauty.
+Braxton Berrios
Came down with a great diving catch for a big gain, one that he dropped last week. Also caught the game winner which is nice. But this was the highlight of the game for me:
Flipping the U right side up, while staring at all those wine and cheese UNC boosters, was a thing of beauty. It drew a pretty big pop from the visitors section, which Berrios acknowledged by pointing to all of us as he went back to the sideline. I could tell he did it for me. We're basically best friends now.
Minus:
-The Offense
Rather than ****ting on 1 guy or position group, I'll just throw them all in together. The running game was nonexistent, Rosier had his ups and downs as usual, back to back sacks of Rosier, untimely turnovers, guys dropping balls...it was rough. Luckily we made enough big plays on offense to get the W.
-Having A 3rd String QB and RB do good things against us
I'm not that down about the defense for this game. They are the only reason we weren't losing at halftime. But we still cant get off the field on 3rd down, and these guys had no business putting a scare into us today.
-ACC Refs
Same old ****. The late hit flag on whoever knocked Surratt out of the game was complete bull****. The ref basically walked up to Surratt's body and leaned over as if to ask "are you ok, buddy?" and then threw the flag.
Thoughts?
I can be one of the biggest curmudgeonly caustic, a-holes on this board, but, after the last decade and a half, I'm not going to act like a p---y about a win...any god**** win. However, three thoughts, since you asked Dan, and I'm drunk:
1) Some of our fans are knee jerking to the media construct that we are somehow undeserving because we've won close games...well, no ****, in a year where there are only 3-4 dominant teams and a **** ton of 'okay' ones, we are staying at the top of the 'also-ran' pack. Excuse freaking us if we don't give a ****. Suck it ESPN, in the time it took me to type this paragraph, you lost another 500 subscribers.
2) We're winning ugly. Our OL sometimes can't run block their way out of a wet paper sack, our QB occasionally has trouble completing a forward pass, and our scheme occasionally resembles something Richt Drew up on a Huddle House napkin at 3:00 am. I'll still freaking take it, just based on those timely sequences that elevate higher than just about anything else the last decade and a half of ineptitude has provided.
3) There's a distinct possibility that Virginia Tech, and their lunchpail brand of Appalachian incest, is a better football team than we are this year...
But I don't give a ****. We have an opportunity. To stop being doom and gloom pussies, pack out the stadium formerly known as Joe Robbie, and blow Ross's new roof right off the god**** place.
So, who gives a **** about
#s 1, 2, or 3? I'm going to Hard Rock on Saturday, getting drunk, and bringing 60,000 of my *******, angry, friends with me. The sandman cometh Virgina Tech, you bunch of Mountain Dew swigging, DC-school rejects. Except the sandman wears a chin strap beard, a cheaply made DymeLife turnover chain T-shirt, and has been drinking rum since the blue lot opened. Let's f-ck 'em up.
