Because no one has every took a demotion before. And that doesn't necessarily mean he'd get a pay cut.
And I didn't say he doesn't want to call plays. Thats not the question. Sometimes you don't always get what you want. Its not like he had amazing success calling plays here. It really depends if he has better offers on the table. If he has no good offers to be OC, calling plays, at a major school, AND Richt wants to keep him, why would he leave.

Ken Dorsey can still be OC, just without the Play calling responsibilities, which belong to Richt.

Only problem for Coley is his alternative is going from calling plays to not having a job if he's not willing to take a step back. Being at UM did not help his resume.
 
Now Randy Shannon has an ego problem...wow. Audacious. Considering how his tenure was low balled financially, he was undermined by Shalala and the administration in favor of Nevin Shapiro, and how he needed to sue to get the $ owed him on his contract. And he has never said one bad word about the program. Golden was shown the red carpet in every way imaginable (including by U fans) and he sh##ted on Us in every way imaginable, but you'd never refer to him as having an ego problem. He was a "class act" who just "not the right fit" LOL!

Bring in Bud Foster! Got shunned for the VaTech job...could see him jumping ship. Ken Dorsey for Assistant OC/QB Coach (Mark calling plays) and Foster as DC. We keep Beard and Scott.
 
Coley will go to Kentucky before he loses his play calling duties....Unless there is a nice raise involved..Richt is the real deal.
