Portis , Wingo, and Dunnigan

Well, we’re preparing for the biggest game in this program’s history. I assume staff and team is focused. If you have players that don’t know playbook, or how we practice or compete, does that take staff’s attention away to teach the newbies? Just asking.

This is a completely normal thing. Ohio St and the other 6 CFP schools left all also have incoming frosh practicing, so it'd be very odd if we didnt

Are they practicing or observing?

Because if they are actually practicing,I wonder if the coaches view that as a distraction?
Might be going thru drills, but obviously not taking reps. This isn’t time to play around.

Nice chance to see what you have with some of the top rated incoming guys prior to transfer portal opening. Extra data points are never a bad thing when trying to figure out how to allocate dollars
Yep. I can imagine how wingo looks against our db's in practice could influence our portal movement.

Reaching a bowl is an incentive for teams because it awards you extra practice time you do not otherwise have this time of year. No bowl = no practice
Wasn't there a thread about ND in the preseason talking about all the extra practice they had due to making it to the final last year?
That’s what I’ve been trying to say. U can’t have extra practices if ur not going bowling

I remember this rule being in effect for the first time in 2000, getting ready for the Sugar Bowl vs uf. I believe Terrell Walden and Vince Wilfolk were at least 2 of fresh-out of high school kids who were added to the Sugar Bowl roster. So this is not a novel thing.
May not be a novel thing but we haven’t played in anything of consequence in 20 years, it is most certainly a big thing today. Let the new guys see the intensity of playoff game prep
