Omier is in school here on a visa. Due to that he has to be very careful about making money in the states.

UK's big, Oscar Tshiebwe, is under the same restriction as Omier. It's reported Oscar made a boat load of $$ on UKs trip to the Bahamas last summer. Maybe we should set up a trip over there.

From some research: "Tshiebwe was dealing with limitations on his international student visa that prohibit him from making the same kinds of deals his American counterparts can. While in the Bahamas, though, Tshiebwe was able to take advantage of being outside the US. According to The Athletic, the big man earned roughly $500,000 in just a week there."

Hmmm...funny how no one speaks about this cat earning $500K in a week. Where's Jimmy B from the 'Cuse when you need him.

We are playing a tournament in the Bahamas this year.

Ruiz can just send a check to his overseas account. Oscar doesn't have to bring it all in to the US...

Who could the coaches be going after in the class of 23? There are not many guys left that aren't signed to a school. There's some top 100 talent like Eric Dailey who is committed to OK State, but unsigned. Carey Booth is another one that we have offered that's still uncommitted, but ND is looking like the leader according to 247.

Of course, it has to be said that Tsiebwe made this kind of money off being the 2022 National Player of the Year in college hoops, a 1st team All-American and the winner of a half dozen other awards.

according to Verbal Commits, there are 1370 athletes in the portal, over 100 added in the past two days

Let's say Wong and Pack return with the same contract they have with Ruiz this past year. If that were the case, how would it sit with them after last season's greatness, to possibly make less than some new, unproven player transferring in?

And, what about Omier? Haven't heard anything about what he made from NIL (and that's the way it should be). If it's significantly less than the guards, though, how does that sit? Without him, this Miami team would have needed luck just to make the Tourney.

You not only need the $$ but the knowledge of how to manage it. And the kicker is that you, as the HC, aren't even managing it! That's the business people out in the community paying for their Name/Image/Likeness. It's all one big headache to HCs I'm sure.

If Wong comes back his deal will be massive, way more than Pack's $400k. He has all the leverage of being able to go to the draft or god forbid portal out, no deal in place, and he was ACC POTY and a key reason we made the Final Four. $800k-$1.1M IMO.

Yep. I don't really know anything about these "contracts." Other than the school is sorta on the outside looking in. The business deal is between a business and a player.

In Pack's case, his contract was apparently for two years. As good as SOME of his games were, I don't see how there'd be any need to renegotiate a thing with him. The $400K per year seemed exorbitant last year. This year? Who knows what the going rate for a guard with his skills is?

And, how do these contacts work if a player is a total bust on the court. Not tied to performance so I guess the businessman eats the loss. ??

Scratch Handgloten (Florida) and Krikke (Iowa) off the list. Not sure if we were pursuing either.

Shodell has an article up on TOS but not sure if there’s any specific info. Could be just a rehash of who we reached out to that’s posted already.

I’d guess Hunter goes to Maryland or back to Michigan. Nothing I’ve read says we’ve even made contact.

Ike is a bit more of a mystery.

All in all, we’re not getting much press other than the names on page 1 of this thread. It’s a bit surprising given our tourney success, but the fact we’re late to the portal is a factor.
