Pope

Pope isn't very good, but appears to be improving. Both things can be true. I will re-appraise after the next 4 games.

*whispers* he was never a real 5 star
He was a Rivals 5 star which had the fan base a bit too excited. Still has a chance to be a pretty good player for us and is really turning it around these last few weeks. Still would like to see him attack the ball with his hands versus some of these body catches but I guess that’s who he is.

Pope has been separating consistently all year, that hasn’t been a problem for him at all

I don't see it Brock. I respect your opinion. This is mine. I don't see him running away from DBs consistently.

He did it on Saturday against a very suspect secondary...I want to see consistency against good defenses before I come to his defense.

Pope said he feels like Mark Pope again.

I dont know what that means, but given how the receivers have improved, I am expecting some decent stuff vs VT.

I hope so.

He will certainly have some opportunities. The Hokies secondary has given up a lot of big plays the last few weeks and he should be open. Hopefully he plays like he did in the second half of Fridayy's game.

We will chuck the ball deep, I think King has started to find his range and the chemistry with receivers gets more and more obvious.

The way some plays are designed put the WRs in the middle of traffic. When UM threw those screens to WRs, the receiver was often hemmed in by his own blockers. In most cases, the UM receiver had to squeeze through the tangle of blockers and defenders, usually in a narrow space along the sideline. Maybe it was poor defense by UM, but NCSU receivers seemed to have plenty of open area to run in before getting close to a defender.
Our swing passes and bubble screen takes FOREVER to develop.... By the time the ball hits our WR's hands their CB and SF are already crashing in....

Why is it that the OTHER teams try that play they usually rip 20yrds on us??

Anyways, I liked The passion pope played with last night. He took over a series in the 3rd quarter when we were down and scored a touchdown.

yeah he had a bad drop where he lost focus but he made some great plays too and finished with 6 catches 97 yards and a td. He’s progressing as a player which is good to see. He gets consistently open. Starting to become a deep threat

****** sideline guy talking about his "skinny suit pants" while our team is throwing a bomb...

Never want to hear that guy on our broadcast again!

Y’all got to realize these kids got emotions like everyone else. Their struggles on the field affect them the most. Glad to see he’s gaining confidence and starting to make plays this season

Said it last year, watching interviews with him and Lingard these dudes didnt exude the confidence of a borderline 5/4 star athlete, like they needed to be built up or they were beaten down and didnt trust their talent.. Lingard bounced but Likens has really tried to build him up, I have seen him tweeting that he believes in him and stuff like that since offseason.. I could only imagine what people tweet to these kids or dm them when their confidence is rattled at young age and they adjust to another level, everyone doesnt have same path.. Good to see him getting built back up and his play improving on field..

Got to eliminate the wide open drops tho.. cant have that if you want to be that dude

I just like how he’s showing effort to get better, he may make a few mistakes here and there but he’s getting better. He didn’t quit

Legit all of this happened vs NC State. Were you even watching the game?

NC State has a garbage defense. Their DB didn’t fight for the ball at all. Kind of like our DB’s.

Pope let the ball hit his chest every time. He waits for the ball instead of attacking it. He plays like he thinks he’s still in high school with 15 yards of separation every time

It’s funny how y’all go at pope when he’s producing and up until the last 2 games had been Miami best receiver but the talk is quieter for wiggins who has been worse and Payton(just as touted as pope) who looks lost out there for whatever reason

Payton has been the biggest disappointment in my mind. All we heard about was how talented he is and how he was coming for playing time this year. He hasn’t shown anything while he’s been in the game. Also, what does it say about him that he can’t stay on the field with the crew in front of him? If Pope and Wiggins were as bad as everyone says, Payton should be in more. Even when he is in, he’s invisible.

He’s a redshirt freshman.....and hasn’t been available to play in a couple games this year. Oh this guy doesn’t put up 2000 yards and 15 tds in his first 7 games so he’s a disappointment. Some of you are just straight up fools.

Why do yal always throw he’s a freshman or redshirt freshman out there as if we don’t have countless examples of freshmen making impacts early , across the nation and on our team ? And then jump straight to a hyperbole like showing signs of promise early means ppl are expecting him to be elite day one

Many freshmen are showing out, and eating jjacks..........it comes down to how much do you want to fight, separate, and go up for the jump balls....and pleassseee do not let the ball hit you in your chest, fumble, and/ or drop the **** thing......that itself is a mind game predicament.........
