Pope

Man Fvck all that, stop being a ******* hater and give credit where it’s due. You acting like pope fvcked your b*tch and you being spiteful to the kid. He’s a cane at the end of the day and is progressing, quit hating
That’s not hating. It’s straight facts. It ain’t my problem you can’t handle the truth. I’ll be cheering as loud as anyone if Pope makes a 5 star play breaking a tackle, ankle, or winning a 50/50 ball. Everyone here knows I praise kids that deserve it.

Fri night was King looking like he’s a top 10 pick with a seat at the Heisman ceremony. That was arguably the best QB performance I’ve EVER seen from a UM QB. Albeit with his most talented pass catchers out with Covid. King Da God is who we should be praising. He’s the reason we’re a top 10 team.

Y’all always quick to write someone off, stfu and let people progress. Y’all did the same with Frierson and look now, he’s balling
He’s a junior and there hasn’t been much improvement from his freshman year. He’s done nothing.

Please let me know Mr. Czar of Player Criticism when am I allowed to comment on Mr. Pope’s lack of progress? Two games before the end of his senior season?

STFU and stop excusing garbage play.

It’s been clear improvement, he caught what 1 pass as a freshman? This is his first year with extensive playing time as a focal point of the receivers

Physically, no. He looks incredibly undersized out there. Looks like a DB. Impressed with his effort for sure.

Still don't like his and Wiggin's WR fundamentals though. They seldom go up and grab balls with their hands like the alpha dogs do. Too often they trap it against their body. Hopefully Likens can coach that out of them in another year. Regardless, if they keep this level of play up, I'm fine with the WR depth chart as is.

On a team with legit recievers he wouldn’t be asked to do the things he’s doing. He’s a bubble, drag, and occasional catch defense slipping downfield kind of guy. Asking him to make contested catches frequently is not doing him any favors period. The drops have to stop though

They're contested because he isn't separating consistently.

I don't like those screens that we try to throw a couple times a game. I don't know what it is, but they always look awkward as ****, and rarely get more than 2-3 yards. Dennis Erickson used to run a similar play to Kevin Williams that looked and worked a lot better

Its because our WRs look like Make-A-Wish projects and can't block the DB they're assigned to. Very simple.

Pope is a WR2 and that’s it. He’s not bad. He’s not great. His size limits his effectiveness and would probably best be used in the slot where DBs can’t muscle him as much. Unfortunately Harley, who is by far our WR1 is in the slot. Wiggins is still a one trick pony and despite having the best size of our receivers, gets bullied by every 5’10” corner. If he can’t run right past the DB, he’s a non factor. Plus he’s good for at least a drop a game. At the very least all 3 guys have shown they can beat man coverage over the top, at least against the average teams so it’s opened up the whole offense.

I don’t even know if he’s a WR2, tbh. He and Marley have the skill sets of a WR3.

And there is a doofus on here @CashMoneyCane who likes to call Pope soft. I'm 100% certain that doucher has never called out a man in real life, but I bet he has no problem with women. Typical keyboard warrior. Right, assmunchercain?

Maybe Pope wants to see if Harley's new found spotlight is big enough for two.

Pope having his best game as a Hurricane while falling flat on his face on a sure TD, and then dropping a ball that hit him in the chest, is pretty fitting. It's ALWAYS something with him lol.

Y’all got to realize these kids got emotions like everyone else. Their struggles on the field affect them the most. Glad to see he’s gaining confidence and starting to make plays this season

That’s straight slurper talk. Pope didn’t high point the ball or anything special other than actually catch the football. He was wide open on the touchdown. The deep ball on the sideline fell right into his arms. He didn’t come back or jump for it to ensure it was a catch. The CB played the ball like it was Ivey in coverage. Anyone who watched Clemson or dare I say UF last night saw some big time catches. It pains me to say that but take off the rose colored glasses and it is plain as day. Grimes and Pitts made some spectacular catches on 50/50 balls. The dude Powell for Clemson made plays last night I haven’t seen a UM WR make since AR. Pope is a Junior and has NOT ONE broken tackle or even made someone miss with the ball in his hands. He goes down if someone flicks him.

Harley on the other hand has really stepped up the past couple games. He’s catching the ball, getting open, and finally making dudes miss and keeping his balance. Harley is playing like he wants it.

Now, the real story here is King. He dropped dimes all night long. He played like the guy we all hoped we were getting. NC State dared us to throw deep because King hasn’t made good deep throws yet. Well King looked better this past game than the two games I’ve watched Kyler Murray play this season.

The point is Pope is not a good WR. He made most of the plays you expect WRs to make. A perfectly thrown ball and the WR beating single coverage sometimes. He still dropped an easy catch for a first down. He had a chance for another 50/50 ball and couldn’t make the play. So even in his best game. Where he finally gets his first touchdown as a JUNIOR. He was still mediocre.
True...........great observations, and real points.....well done. Totally agree with all you wrote.

No. Our WR are garbage, just that NC STate DB are even more garbage

Our WR dont come back for the ball, don’t fight for the ball, dont catch the ball w their hands but let the ball hit their chests
Legit all of this happened vs NC State. Were you even watching the game?
