When I see Mark Richt at the top of the list I realize our fan base has the same expectations as our admin.

NCs don't matter, occasionally winning the Coastal is the new goal.

Richt is 83-37 in the SEC.

Butch is 15-17 in the ACC.

Has he ever built a National Championship team as a HC? Cause Butch has at least done that.

He's had the most talented or almost most talented team in the SEC East, the easier side, for years and hasn't won ****.

Butch took a team that was hit with massive scholarship losses and built it into a behemoth. He wasn't the coach the year they won it, but he built it. The year before we were robbed, and only a Cane non fan would say we weren't.

Bottom line is, only one of these guys has proven he can build a National Champion. How the **** are you gonna refute that?

Winning lots of regular season games and winning championships are two totally different things.

Where did I mention Butch? I'm not a Butch fanboy.

Using strictly records to compare coaches is ridiculous anyway. If that is the case Larry Coker was one of the best of all time. Certain jobs are better then others, situation effects record (rebuilding vs taking over a solid program).

I'm looking for our next coach to build and win a NC. I already know Richt hasn't done that at a major program.

So your knock on Richt is he got a lot of talent and didnt win but you are praising Butch for amassing a lot of talent and never winning either? you make no sense. Its not like Butch has ever lead a college football team any further than Richt has.

I'm not a Butch guy but come on now. If Butch stays at Miami he accomplishes at least what Coker did, most likely more.

Richt has been at a powerhouse program for 15 years, Butch was at one for 6 and left before he could enjoy what he built.

Butch Davis Da Gawd's career head to head records vs:

VaTech: 2-8, FSU: 2-6, East Carolina: 1-3, UVA: 2-3, NC St: 1-4, GaTech: 2-3

So Butch has losing records to 5 ACC schools, and 3 Coastal schools...and we have a rocket scientist bringing up Richt's record vs UF? Lmao.

Butch had UNC on the verge until the Vegas trips surfaced and half the starters - a team that still went 8-5 - was suspended. After seeing them play I have no doubt they woudl have challenged for the title that year

If not Butch than Herman. At least he would create buzz. Richt is about as safe and boring as our Admin has been since Shalala was hired. Look where it got us.

Butch is not only a god at recruiting and developing players for the NFL, he is a god at getting and developing assistants (even with UM's budget) to become head coaches.

Chud - Became an NFL head coach
Schiano - Became an NFL head coach
Pagano - Became an NFL head coach
Shannon - Became UM head coach
Coker - Became UM head coach (national champ) and UTSA head coach
