Phucking hilarious!!! Manny should ban baker from social media, but the spin master probably likes it.

Those numbers are ok by Miami standards. Certainly nothing to brag about publicly. Could easily have Clemson or UGA troll him with better numbers. Dabo: "You're right Blake. Numbers don't lie. Hey defensive recruit, come to Clemson where we had the #1 scoring defense in the nation."

Baker needs to shut his trap after some of most embarrassing defensive calls I saw last year in critical situations. Less tweeting. More film please.
Read the comments 🤣

I remember rustling jimmies because I said bringing back JT set Manny’s culture. He made his bed.

People were blinded by talent but don’t realize these guys are bad for culture and locker room.
JT wasn't an issue imo, it was how he was misused.

If you put JT4 in a high octane offense he would've been productive which would've kept him from being a malcontent.

Talented players want the ball because they know when they get the ball they do good things with it.

Culture gets harped on when you have a staff full of Corches that can't deal with high maintenance talent, they need players that are quiet choir boys who never go against the grain so that it makes easier for them to fail in peace.

The fact is, every great program has a locker room with knuckleheads & dudes who are just difficult to deal with, Bama, LSU, Clemson, Oh St, Oklahoma etc, they all have high maintenance divas & kids who are extremely frustrating to handle, but you don't hear about them because they're winning. Those teams run professional style programs so they have a much easier time dealing with those types than we do because they know what it takes to win & how to build champions.

If we're ever going to becoming a winning contending program we're going to have to deal with those types of kids whether we want to or not, that's just the reality. The difference is, the top programs aren't dismantled because they get a crazy diva or two or their roster, they can handle it, Miami crumbles at the seams the moment a player even raises his voice one time.

Culture is important no doubt I agree, but if one player can destroy your entire culture then the head man in charge simply isn't a strong enough leader. Look at what happened to UF last season, they had half a dozen players suspended, a couple guys kicked off the team, they had dudes choking tutors out, transfers, all kinds of crazy shìt go down during Spring & Fall camp. Did it tear their locker room apart? Nope, they went 11-2.

I'm not saying we should aspire to be like the Gaytes, I'm just saying if we can only win if we have a roster full of Missionaries then we're never going to, because no winning team does.

Relax and be an adult in the room for once; no need for all this nonsense and definitely no need to disrespect me when I answered your question in a rational and respectful way. You've lost your sense of reality and have gotten too wrapped up into your avatar. You’d never, ever, ever address another human being that way in person over something so meaningless, so why all the internet thuggery here?

I didn’t fall for anything the first time. I always wait on data and evidence to inform my opinion. It’s what I do in my profession. I was just trying to clarify what LuCane meant on the podcast and what others have been trying to convey time and time again on this site.

So far, Manny and this culture is all about “pomp and circumstance” - however many of us that’s hace been around the block is “waiting” to see positive results more from a football standpoint.

I would 700% say all of that verbatim to anyone in person because it wasn’t insulting or personal in the least bit, and if those words got you upset, then you’d be proving my point.

However, my original post had nothing to do with the podcast, that I haven’t even listened to yet. It just happened to be in a podcast thread where I read, for the 8000th time in the last 2 months, that people aren’t “falling for it”. I’m genuinely confused as to what that is. You’re not going to get as excited for a season as previously? You’re not going to buy tickets? You’re going to boycott the games? What exactly did people fall for? It’s just very strange to me....I will approach this season in the exact same manner that I have for the past 25 of them. With excitement, optimism, curiosity, anticipation, and with the hope that it’ll be successful. Absolutely zero of that has to do with Manny Diaz, his tweets, his words, or anything his assistants have to say. It’s simply because I’m a fan of the program and will support it always, and those 12+ Saturday’s in the fall are what I look forward to as much as anything else in my life. But the fell for it thing is weird to me....did people really do anything differently in the lead up to the 2019 season than any other season? And if so, was it because Manny Diaz speared a tackling dummy to kick off practice? If a coach’s words in an interview caused you to feel some kind of way and you were “fooled”, shame on you. That’s your fault for being influenced by someone who doesn’t know you exist. That’s all I was saying.

Every single post on this site that could be remotely construed as positive is immediately followed by 100 lemmings shouting “IM NOT FALLING FOR IT”. It’s just tiresome. If you’re not interested in any positivity, why are you wasting your time talking about the program on this board?

But when a player quits during the season and you allow him back you can’t then talk culture.

Then mix in dude walking through drills , quitting on routes at practice while young guys are watching. That’s not a winning culture or type a guy that you want around when building your own culture. Once you allow this to happen and people see it you can no longer rip guys for doing the same ****.

Coaches allowed this because they were scared to scold him for his behavior , because they didn’t know how he’d react. He might just walk off pouting. There was no telling.

Dude is an unreal talent , I wouldn’t be shocked if he kills it in the league. He’s just was bad for a new coach and this situation. Manny should’ve let him go.

Building off D-Moni's point about Patchan being a grown man:

Nelson, Clark, and Brooks are the only underclassmen with a chance to start week 1.
Rousseau, Campbell, Reed, Miller, and Frierson are 3 years removed from high school, the rest are Juniors and Seniors.

The chance of adding 1-2 transfer OL could eliminate Nelson and Clark, making that group all upperclassmen.

Our returning RBs and WRs haven't lit the world on fire, so a few freshmen could supplant them by the end of the year. So whether you think this is a good thing or bad thing, it's clear we won't be a young team.
Excuse me while I quote myself, but whoever is left from this team after next season is who we roll with to open 2021 versus Bama. Marinate on that.

I am a Dolphins and Tottenham fan. That means long stretches with ZERO reward for fandom.
Dolphins and Chicago Bulls for me. It's a nasty irony that the Heat's late arrival to the NBA led me to pick the Jordan team that was always on TV. Then I got to watch unprecedented success. And, have now watched 21 (of 22) years of unmitigated **** while the Heat has won multiple titles. Real fun time having to put up with Heaters - especially during the Lebron era. I actually admire their organization and Spo's style. But, the fans have made me hate them. The Phins are a different story because they've been around since my first football game and, outside of that early 90s period (Chiefs playoff win, Chargers playoff win at home), we've experienced relative garbage for 35 years. It's almost part of the allure of being a Phins fan now.

If you "fell for it" previously, you're a moron. It's football coach speak. None of it matters in the least bit. What exactly did you "fall for"? Manny's tweets? And this falling...what did it result in? Divorcing your family and getting a condo closer to UM so you can stake out the Hecht center with a countdown clock until the season started? What are the repercussions of "falling for it" that you refuse to get into bed with this time? Did you cry in the shower after losses? Beat your wife and dog?

It was a coach, talking. It's what they do. But he didn't win, and that's all that matters. "Not falling for it" like some of y'all were tricked into buying a timeshare or something LMAO. Simple minded weirdos.

Go eat a snickers bar, dude. We get it, you are that guy.

I agree with the part about Manny, but JT4 was a problem.

There is a reason the big programs didn't really pursue JT4 and Marcus Fleming.

I agree those types are problems but if it's not them it'll be somebody else.

At some point we can't pawn off every kid that isn't an obedient cyborg as being a problem because the leadership doesn't know how to handle them.

JT wasn't the only "problem child" we had, he was one among many & it wasn't just because they're all bad kids. Good kids go bad when they see the structure at the top is flimsy & doesn't command respect.

Jimmy Johnson, Erickson & Butch all had locker rooms full of wild & crazy outlaws, but they respected the head man in charge therefore it didn't tear down the entire program. We didn't start hearing culture talk until we started hiring a consecutive string of weak coaches that can't lead.

Give this exact same 2019 roster to Saban, Dabo or Lincoln Riley & we go 10-2 easy, problem child's & all.

I actually think there is a lot of room for underclassman to play early. Our entire 2017 class are basically jags or already gone. There are very few impact seniors on the team.

you think Ivey has his spot locked up? C Williams or couch could easily start game 1.

cam Harris has done nothing to solidify a starting spot over knighton and Chaney.

austin cave and huff are just as likely to start game 1 as brooks.

It's a really good podcast. But @DMoney would be better served if he stopped gassing up Zion Nelson. Dude had a historically terrible season. A wait-and-see approach is far more prudent here.

DE should be a big strength with Rousseau and Roche. But which DT has shown you anything that you expect them to perform at a high level next year? Sure, they could be good. But there is no prior evidence to show that our DTs are going to be the envy of the opposition next year.

All extremism is bad. Today people are on this board starting threads about UM being in the top 25 to start the season (we have only finished ranked in 4 of the last 15 seasons) and calling 10+ wins next season (we've only accomplished that once in the last 15 seasons). Personally, I find that sort of blind commentary just as tiresome as someone saying they "are not falling for" the hype.

Positivism is all well and good so long as it is grounded in reality.

Erickson had some real issues with culture, and Butch had to clean up his mess.

Butch and Jimmy's outlaws loved to play football and practiced hard. I like those kind of guys. Moping in practice and half-assing it is a much bigger problem.

Of course freshmen will play. Who said locked up? I said start week 1. We have very few seniors, period. But of the 10, 9 will start, and the one that won't (Irvin) will sit behind a Junior. As mediocre as Blades and Ivey were, Couch and Williams couldn't sniff the field. Are they just magically going to surpass them? More likely that Blades and Ivey keep their spots.

Knighton and Chaney have done nothing to take it either. Not even Duke started over Mike James, and he didn't do much his first few years either. Chaney and Knighton would have to be even better than advertised to unseat an upperclassmen week 1. Cam Harris doesn't exactly suck.

Austin-Cave and Huff? Sure, you're replacing an underclassmen with an underclassmen.

Point still stands, this will be an older team than we usually have.
