PODCAST: DMoney talking that talk

Why are UM fans always looking for reasons not to be optimistic about upcoming seasons? Any time you guys hear some positive hype you feel the need to try to invent negative scenarios. Yeah if we lose a bunch of key players we won't be as good as D$ thinks. That holds true for EVERYONE else too.

I think the last 15 years is to blame.

Or being born losers.

How can you not be optimistic this year? Reminds me of the 2000 season. 2016 had a similar path as 1999. Young team, young defense. 3 game losing streak that started with the heartbreak against Penn State. We were thin in spots along offensive line with Romberg and Bibla as first year starters. Thin at linebacker, defensive tackle and defensive back. Dorsey wasn't a sure thing going into 2000 and backed up by Sands. Dorsey ripped up Temple, Rutgers and Syracuse and platooned with Kenny Kelly in the Gator. He showed a lot of promise but then so did Kenny Kelly against FSU. Every team has holes and has some drop off at some key positions. If the quarterback play is competent, then Miami is very, very good and can beat anybody on its schedule. If the quarterback play is very good, then we're looking at a great season and a legitimate conference contender especially on a neutral field in a conference championship game. My opinion is this is easily our best team since 2003 and we are going to be pleasantly surprised. Miami is a national title contender in 2018. Just hope one or both of our defensive tackles pull an Ed Reed and stick around.

I'm optimistic but we've had lots of false starts at QB over the years. As long as our QB doesn't give games away, we're double digits. If we have a great QB and few injuries at critical positions, we could be a contender.

Great work. D$ and Pete told it like it is. Fu@k the schools up North. At the end of his interview the other day, Richt even said The U is back.

D$'s Florida bit...

Fire!

I watched this a couple times to get in the mood to record:

Even though Miami had great pro-style personnel last season, the O-line wasn't physical enough to really take advantage of it. Richt could throw out 21 or 12 personnel all day, but if you can't run the ball effectively with 9 offensive guys in the box then it's not a favorable formation. In this instance, you'd be better off emptying the box and trying to run draws off RPO, which is exactly what Richt did. He's gonna pound the football with Mark Walton this season and y'all watch out for Travis Homer; he's my pick for a breakout year.
