You want Richt fired? Not gonna happen if there's no money for the buyout.

You want a great HC and staff? Not gonna happen if there's no money to pay them.

You want to get great recruits? Not gonna happen if no one supports the program.

You want me to believe you that the University has the cash? I don't. And you have absolutely nothing to back up that assertion.

No, he won’t. His demise will be based on the body of work under him, next year. He’s already taken another step into the ****list, with this recruiting carnival. Best thing he can do is win 10 games next year . That would help his case. I’m with OP.

None of that matters and yes, Miami has the money. They choose not to spend it.

Your reply has absolutely nothing of substance to it, whatsoever. Try harder.

The UNIVERSITY is not a football program. The UNIVERSITY earmarks funds to specific departments and objectives YEARS in advance. In many if not MOST cases, gifts are tied directly to objectives. You can't take money donated to build a building and spend it to buy out a coach.

But I'm going to assume you know absolutely nothing whatsoever about the finances of the University, which is bigger than a football team.

I didn't give up my awesome seats when Randy was stinking up the place, and he got fired. I didn't give up my seats when Golden stunk up the place, and he got fired. I am keeping my seats and cheering on the players. If Richt has more crummy seasons (and I am hoping he turns things around), he will eventually get fired too, and deservedly so. And No, I am not a Richt slurper. I think he had a horrible season. And his son should not coach the qb's. And signing day was not much fun (even though we did get some hopefully good players like Payton).

So what you're saying is, the incompetent athletic department doesn't earmark appropriate funds, years in advance. They care more about hospitals, image, etc.

Yes, that's obviously what I'm saying. The Athletic Department cares about hospitals, and they don't earmark funds years in advance that they can't predict at all given fluctuations in revenue based on attendance, TV rights, apparel sales, bowl games, etc, because they are incompetent at accurately predicting the future.

You sound very intelligent and clearly capable of managing the finances of a multi-billion dollar organization.

So once the BOT decided to fire Grohlden, they immediately did so one day later, owing him from another premature extension (incompetent AD) and quickly hired Rorcht, paying him more money than any previous coach here and more than he mad at Georgia. Within 2 years, we have a 30+million IPF already open. It was also reported that a recent single donor just gave 10 million. ****, the Soffer's can pay Rorcht's buy out without batting an eye. Keep thinking Miami doesn't have the money.
 
An elite coach in his prime is not going to come here. We got extremely fortunate in the late '70s when Schnellenberger during his second stint with the Dolphins wanted the Canes job after Lou Saban quit abruptly. It is going to take something like that again, an undervalued coach who we stumble upon via series of circumstance. We probably won't even know what we have, like USC with Pete Carroll.

It is laughable to suggest I should stop attending the games to jumpstart our next attempt at a fluke. We might not even attempt a fluke in the near future. I was there on Friday night in the late '60s and early '70s, enjoying an occasional win amidst maybe 15,000 or 18,000 fellow fans. During that era it was impossible to envision anything besides an occasional minor bowl game. But that experience also made me understand **** well that we were not an elite program and had no resemblance whatsoever to awesome programs like Notre Dame that would visit the Orange Bowl every other year. That's an entirely different level. I never kidded myself otherwise, even when the scoreboard somehow favored our side more often than not for two amazing decades.

So every year that Michigan, PSU, Tex, Tenn, etc doesn't win a National Championship and they fill the house those people are part of the problem??
 
An original idea! Lack of attendance has always gotten the administration's attention in the past.

Dude, I'm an alum. I worked in the Finance department at The U. I understand more about not only finance, but especially non-profit finance than you ever have or will. A university having money and having money to spend on any one thing are two completely different notions.

Soffer donated $14 million FOR AN IPF. The University, LEGALLY cannot spend that money for something else. Say, like, a coaches buyout.

There are also other mandates, such as Title IX, that come into play in regards to how resources are allocated. But hey... let's just ignore that too, right?
