Dude, I'm an alum. I worked in the Finance department at The U. I understand more about not only finance, but especially non-profit finance than you ever have or will. A university having money and having money to spend on any one thing are two completely different notions.
Soffer donated $14 million FOR AN IPF. The University, LEGALLY cannot spend that money for something else. Say, like, a coaches buyout.
There are also other mandates, such as Title IX, that come into play in regards to how resources are allocated. But hey... let's just ignore that too, right?
