I'm asking that anyone in favor of Mario Cristobal to help me understand, in detail, how whatever perceived rewards from his hiring outweigh the potential risks.

Things I'd like to know:

What strengths did he exhibit as an FIU Head Coach?

How is he with situational football? How does he make decisions in-game, generally?

What's his history of hiring and firing?

What did he "learn" under Coach Saban?

How do Alabama fans feel about his actual football (not recruiting) contributions? What are the details in terms of productivity increase or decrease?

We can start there. We can then go on to compare him, as a risk, to alternatives. Hope to learn something.

He didn't even want to offer TY Hilton and had to be convinced of it. Dude is a clown and should never be more than a position coach at a big time school.

Going to seriously need more than that. Is there anything substantive someone can offer here? This may be important.

we fixing to pay 3mil to find those answers

Is anyone here really a Mario supporter? Seems all the talk about him is coming from media talkin heads...

No Mario for anything ever! He sucks. He is not the only person in the country who can recruit.

Isn't there a "tell me why you want Mario" thread about every six hours?

Not with the type of answers to those questions I seek. I read through the majority of them. And, much of it unravels into a personal attack. I'd like a substantive look, if you don't mind too much.

All you need to know is that he is not a target for ANY other FBS head coaching position - not one.

He is simply not qualified to be UM's head coach.

Other than his perceived recruiting ability, which as we know is a total nonsense "skill", he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Not a single thing that qualifies him in any capacity to run a program, let alone this program.

If people REALLY want to go back to what made Miami great, it was INNOVATION.

Schnelly bringing a pro passing game. Jimmy bringing an aggressive 4-3 defense. Erickson bringing the single-back offense.

We don't need a recruiter. We don't need someone who "understands" South Florida. We need someone who understands X's & O's and how to gameplan. People talk about Alabama's facilities and recruiting. But what gets lost in all that is Nick Saban is one of the best defensive minds of this generation. Bill ******* Bellichick hired him to be his defensive coordinator as soon as he got a head coaching gig. Bama goes into every game with a schematic advantage defensively.

We need that. I want an elite X's & O's guy who can do more with less. THAT is how you recruit.
