Players emerging

I think Harris gets a bit of a sarcastic rep because of the whole "Toolbox" thing, but he was a stud out of high school and I think he'll be a good one here. He has a nasty first step, similar to Olivier Vernon, IMO.

I think people call him that because he is not the biggest or most ahtletic guy. But he is a hard worker and is just a good football player.

Didn't Al like him? That might explain the crap. We h=shouldn't hold it against him. Whole D got new lease on life this year. D-line has chance to start the new documentary on THE U.

Zach mccloud needs to improve in coverage but man.... He is not even scratching the surface of how talented he can be. Love the linebacker class we signed man...

Has he struggled a lot in coverage at the practices that you have attended?

In the practice video itu had on the first couple of days when they were doing 1 on 1s with the tight ends and running backs he was

so you saw a couple reps of a drill from a practice? nice sample size to draw a conclusion from.

It was bad... Zach mccloud is one of my favorite players on the team so don't get it confused. Just because you say a player needs to work on his coverage skills doesn't mean anything but that... Pinckney probably has the best coverage skills of any of the linebackers including grace.

Always thought the scary part about McCloud was that he could legitimately play as a freshman and be farther from his ceiling than any other freshman.

AQM, Chad, Norton, McIntosh, Willis, Trent Harris, D Jackson, Joe Jackson, Jenkins, Moten & Pat Bethel... Our DLine is ****in' stacked!

I can't wait to see those 3rd & long pressure rotations collapsing the pocket immediately getting opposing Offenses off the field.
There's nothing more demoralizing to a QB than on 3rd down knowing he won't have time to get rid of the ball.
Plus, with the speed we got at LB, those Blitz packages are going to cause **** for OL's.

For all of these reasons, it's imperative that we improve that sieve of a run defense we through out there last year. I'm more than a little confident they will, but ain't nothing to it but to do it.

Gotta be able to force teams into 3rd and 7s and 3rd and 9s. Then the dogs get loose.

How old are you? Serious question.

In a Zone blitz - one of the DE will drop as the coverage rotates and you overload 1 side with the blitz.

It doesn't mean he does it all of the time. If you watch similar defences last year Shaq Lawson and Joey Bosa would drop once in a while.

Great news about Young. One of the Freshman DB's stepping up needs to happen this year.

Good news on Haskins, that was my sleeper of this class along with Jeff James.

Any word on how Jeff James or Romeo Finley look? The more DB help the better.

Which is normal schematic football. Zone covereage in the flat, not walking him or Tyriq, or anyone else over 240 lbs on a slot receiver who is 5'9 180 running 4.4. That is the lunacy we had to suffer through for 5 god **** years. My head hurts just thinking about it.

Who ask these types of questions on a message board? serious question

It's probably been said, but if coach Kool can turn Michael Sam, one of the least athletic players ever to receive an NFL combine invitation, into SEC defensive player of the year, toolbox Trent has athleticism to burn to succeed under him.

Yeah Harris was a pretty established prospect coming out of highschool. He was a 4star prospect on a few sites and amassed over 20 sacks his final year in highschool. He was known as an elite pass rushing specialist in Florida that year

Where is CoaRCh MaRcho to tell us how Malcolm Lewis was never "that" good in the 1st place and didn't deserve a scholarship?? Lol clown

"Malcolm Lewis is a Sammy Watkins type of Receiver."--Zone Circa 2014.

Well Malcolm Lewis had a ton of talent and potential before the injury / so I won't knock Zone for such a comparison / definitely a more sane opinion of Malcolm Lewis than Coach Macho 's " he didn't deserve a UM scholarship" comments?? Smh

I like macho... he can make some good assesments but he lost me saying malcom didnt have the juice.

Cant trust your eye for talent as a coach saying that type of stuff

Coach Macho's eye for a lot of things football related is questionable

A lot of us are with you. As I said in another thread, im looking forward to opposing QB's forced to make a decision in 2.7 seconds as opposed to 7.2 seconds.
We will get burned a few times, but the overall reward far outweighs the risks.

I'm sorry, did I miss something?

I see a write-up from DMoney that says he looks better. Has he actually done something yet?

LOL @ you using a write-up from DMoney as proof that I was wrong.

Yes, don't trust the word of a guy who coached against the kid. He did nothing against my Western kids but I'm supposed to believe that he's a legit P5 level WR. LOL
A 10th grade Juwan Dowels had Lewis in clamps when we played Miramar.

I've been basically spot-on about every kid we've ever signed within the past 5 years. (other than Walford, I was wrong about him)

Walford was hard to watch for a long time, but he ended on a high note and has kept on keepin' on.
