"Offensive identity" is what you're complaining about.

You can't just call a ******* pistol formation play out of nowhere. You have to 1) have entire packages developed for the formation so the defense doesn't know immediately what you're going to do the second time you run it, 2) have spent enough time practicing this package so your players know what the **** they're doing (our only fumble was from the only I formation play we ran yesterday, because the handoff was ropey, because they probably never practice I formation) 3) have set up constraint plays for when the defense responds to it.

No playcaller is going to come in and magically change all our plays. Richt can't do it. He's committed to this offensive identity. The entire offense is built around the RPO and its constraint plays, like the bubble screen RPOs against GT. The whole playbook is supposed to function as one identity - if the defense does A in response to our base plays, then we can respond with X; if they do B, we do Y, and so on and so forth. There are no plays out of the ******* pistol formation in the playbook. There may not be any jet sweeps. I haven't seen a single toss sweep this season so that's probably not in there - we probably don't practice it, so we can't run it.

Now, whether this offensive identity is any good is a valid discussion - but there's zero chance we can change that in the next two weeks. That's for the offseason.

It looked like the bubble screen was there the whole first half. Don’t think we threw it

just posted on another thread, he seems to save it for game winning drives for some reason this year, last year he would gash teams with it i.e. App St, Virginia, WVU

FIFY, name me a non WR/TE on this team who will be drafted higher than Round 4 (i don't count donaldson as a true frosh)

I’m sticking with playcalling. Need to get the ball into our play makers in space and just let them run wild. Enough with the half back dives up the middle on first and 2nd down and deep routes on 3rd down. More quick slants, bubble screens, etc. And God forbid we actually incorporate some pre snap motion and misdirection into our offense.

I agree - his play-calling (given what we have in the playbook) has been really good. He mixes things up, he anticipates blitzes/zero coverages, etc).

It is definitely the scheme in it's entirety that most of us have a problem with.

Richt, in all of his seasons at UGA, has always had a strong run game to compliment his passing game. He doesn't have that this year and as a result he's having to make do.

It's frustrating at times, but things could be a lot worse. We are limiting turnovers and that's really the reason for our success imo.

Do you even watch the **** games? Youre delusional af.

Richt must be really concerned about Malik throwing picks in the middle of the field. There's no reason why Berrios and Herndon don't have 7-8 catches each per game with slants over the middle. Homer and Dallas can make guys miss in the open field, and Thomas and Harley can run by any of our opponents defenders. Ahmmon Richards is a good player too. This shouldn't look as hard as we're making it look.

The routes are being run in the middle. Just because the pass isn't thrown in the middle doesn't mean it isn't being called. Each play has 3-4 routes being run

We better get the ball out of Rosier's hand quick next weekend, cause VT is gonna hit him often if we don't

Ive said it multiple times. Rosier is limited. He is too pre meditated and wildly inaccurate. He can't even throw a **** swing pass or bubble. Couple that with an inconsistent offensive line and you have a stagnant offense.

Richt is masking rosiers inconsistencies the best he can.

You guys have no idea how to deduce the difference in bad play and bad coaching.

Richt aint perfect by any means. No coach is. But no way you can watch the **** we put on film and think this is just bad offensive coaching

Last week there were a ton of drops, this week a ton of off the mark passes but all people see is "play calling". Like if a play doesn't work it's most definitely because it was the wrong play. Nothing to do with blocking, route running, catching...no it's the lack of motion.

It's not so much that motion and sweeps wouldn't work, it's that we aren't running what we run well. Let's start executing all the time before we scrap the whole system. ****, executing 70% of the time will win us the ACC, and 90% gets us a NC.

Not sure I agree. If a play works, is it because the offense executed or the defense failed to execute? There are two teams on the field--we aren't just struggling offensively because we aren't executing. We're struggling because defenses know what we can and can't do and they are dictating to us.

The main problem that I've had with this offense is the lack of diversified run plays and play action. The result is that we either (A) need a dominant offensive line, or (B) put A LOT of pressure on our quarterback. It has been B last year and this year.

Our issue for the last couple of games has been that defenses recognize that Rosier can't throw into coverage. If they can just control our run and don't overcommit to blitzes, we are going to struggle to "execute" because we'll be asking our guys to do something that we're just not good at. Thus the lack of "execution" is likely to continue. In some ways VT is good for us--they traditionally like aggressive island man coverages, and that plays more to Rosier's strengths. ND will be really tough for us based on the little I've seen.

I know one of the longest running jokes around is that we are going to open up the play book.

I am hoping this is the week we actually do.

(Seriously)
Meaning something that they have have not seen on film this year. Whether it is a reverse, a flea-flicker, Halfback pass by Gray or Dallas, just something to make them think twice about their game plan and preparation.
I also want to see more up tempo.

I'm not a big gadget play guy but other teams have been killing us this season with them and we havent tried a single one. Dallas was a QB in high school, should have a WR pass play with him. When the O is consistency struggling a nice gadget play can give a big boost and keep the D on its toes.

Sorry I can't remember the name, but that one dude's been doing weekly play reviews that do a great job of charting what went wrong on plays and it's looked to me like it's been more about guys not being where they're supposed to be than the D knowing what we're doing. You're right that Ds see that we're limited, but I still think if we just execute what we're trying to do (especially on the opponent's side of the field) we'll score plenty of points.

Put it this way: this team is far too sloppy for tricking the D to matter. If you can't do what you're supposed to do, all the motion/sweeps/spreading out in the world won't help you.

What did I say that is not true? We consistently got stuffed in the run game on 1st and/or 2nd down yesterday yesterday which lead to a ton of incompletions on deep routes on 3rd and long. How many bubble screens did we run? How many quick slants did we run aside from the pass to Herndon that went for a TD? How much pre snap motion or misdirection did we run?

The only things this offense need to do is block better, catch everything, and throw accurately.
