Playcalling is fine

Talk to anyone that has watched our all-22 game tape(which is the only way to really gauge this, IMO) and they'll tell you that it's way to reliant on all-go/verticals and there isn't a lot of route combinations or 'beaters'(as they call them) to combat certain coverages.

And I'll say it again, we lack real tempo in our no-huddle offense

i mean dave aranda sort of let the cat out of the bag in game 1. He obviously knows. Say were kind of a one trick pony. Play your safeties deep on us and play press. We have no intermediate game...or route combinations that floods zone, etc. For the simple fans that dont know the game as well...our offense is pretty BASIC.

Just remember the man constantly through fade routes to 5'8-5'9 wr's. I previous thought he was an avg oc/play caller...ive down graded him a bit to below avg. I havent been a fan of our run game since they have been here though. Again....we are recruiting behemoths and zone blocking with them?.

You’re right no good Offensive play caller in their right minds would call for a fade route to Jeff Thomas bc hes 5’10” lol

Imo, its fine. Some of you guys dont remember Cokers run, run, pass, punt offense, or Patrick Nix's bubble screen bonanza. Or whipples 'im going deep...everytime' offense.

Would like to see a few more 3-5 yrd throws on 1st down, but thats ok.

Nix was the worst has that guy got job since
I use to pray for jacory because of whipple deep throw obsession.

I just re-watched first half. I see posters saying Richt ran the ball against 8 man lines in the first half. I looked at EVERY play. It never happened! Not even ONCE. So many people have an agenda here but HONESTY should be a minimum requirement on this board. In NEVER freaking happened. You posters who said so should be banned. JMO. Either you tell the truth or get off this web site. Frankly you have an agenda that has nothing to do with what is best for UM football. Don't lie about this crap. You are NOT a Cane if you lie about these things.

Three of the four was on short fields after the defense set them up.

The playcalling is atrocious, FSU literally lined up and blitzed the a/b gaps repeatedly and Richt never adjusted. Which is an embarrassment for any power five oc.

Outnumbering us inside but giving us the numbers outside, yet we did nothing to exposed that. Straight up amateur hour.
The players aren't good enough and we don't have debt! We are gonna have to wait until next year 🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Again!

Alabama complained about playcalling then Tua came
Louisville is supposed to have amazing playcalling then lamar left
LSU had terrible playcalling then burrow came
Notre Dame had terrible playcalling then Book came

We have terrible playcalling until we get an offensive line. Only so much trickery can be done without an offensive line.
Everyone loves Oklahomas offense but they have a dominant o line and great quarterbacks in recent years. Wait till we get a better o line and perry matures and we could be dominant

Not so fast...3 straight A gap runs when we had the ball mid field and down by 6 points...that was disgusting and corching at its finest. Richt needs to improve drastically

I'll repost this from another thread:

Richt's offense is completely static with no design to it. He just lines up athletes and hopes that they win their matchups, and the OL protects, and the QB executes, etc. In crucial red zone and 3rd down situations he calls for iso fades/slants to Cager or slants to Wiggins. No deception, no misdirection, no advantage created through formation or alignment, nothing. His offense truly hasn't evolved from the 90s aside from the occasional static RPO bubble screen.

OL is an issue, but it's year 3. We have the most basic offense in CFB. It works well enough because 1) we have unreal athletes on offense & 2) our defense.

Aranda basically called Richt out the week before playing us. Said we ran 2 concepts offensively lol

It is always a good point to bring up two atrocious offenses and say this one is "fine" because it is not like those two.

We are saving our secret offensive plays for when we need it most. The road games at GA Tech and VA Tech. which will essentially win us the Coastal.

Just like we saved up some plays for VA Tech and ND last year in a crucial stretch.

Whipple , Fisch and Coley were more creative, that’s real talk. Thats just how vanilla this crap is. And if you watch film you’ll agree.

Schematically this is as basic as you get in today’s football.

That’s not happening so you need to play to your strengths. Mike Tyson didn’t try to outjab people because he’s not an idiot

I want to repeat not one time did UM run against an 8 man FRONT. Not ONE single TIME, NONE. So anyone posting differently needs to shut the f up.
Whether or not we ran the ball against an 8 man front is a moot point. The truth is we do not have the offensive line to impose our will on the other side like CMR must believe we do. We have the type of line where you need to mix things up and be creative to keep the D off balance. Richts play calling is not based on the reality of his offense personnel and he is still stuck in the SEC ground and pound mind set that doesn’t work with this team and frankly shouldn’t be what we are trying to emulate.

looking at box score we ran 57% of the time. Was not a good balance and started to become too predictable. Would have liked some more mixing up like throwing on first downs, some swing passes to our backs, qb draws, jet sweeps, etc. Those are all pretty conservative calls but attack the defense in different ways rather than just pounding it. Play calling was unimaginative to say the least. You can still play it close to the vest but vary it up. It was pretty vanilla and predictable.

these posters are full of shxt... Richt ran up the middle based on the looks the defense was giving him. We had success in running the ball up the middle against FSU more than we've had against them in years and it played a part in keeping them honest to make it possible for NKosi to execute the long ball.

There were times when Nkosi, in the RPO, handed it off to Homer when he shouldve kept it but that's on the QB to make the right read which he'll continue to get better at
