I understand the sentiment hating FSU and UF, agree mostly, but aren’t Cane fans favorite wins when they were good, and we were better?
Wide Right 1, 2, 3, and Wide Left 1 were the best. Took their NC in 1991, defended it in 1992, and made a statement The U is back in 2000. Broke their girly hearts in 2002. And in 2001, ended the Noles’ home ‘undefeated’ streak. 2003, ST26 took over the game in the rain. And finally 1994, a catharic win at home at night, first home game after the upset loss to Washington. All wins over ranked teams, even both teams in the Top 5 a few times.
Those games resonate far more than Manny’s 52-10 win. Or Kirby Freeman’s game-winning TD in a game between two bad teams.
We haven’t played the Gaytor enough, but the Sugar Bowl win in 2000, the 41-16 trashing at The Swamp in 2002, and Brock Berlin’s comeback win in 2003, the first two when UF was ranked Top 10, far exceed Al Golden’s ‘signature’ win over Will Muschump’s 4-8 team in 2013.
I‘m not rooting for FSU or UF, to be clear, but I‘d rather beat them at their best. Hurts them more.
