Pitt Paradox

I was thinking of going to the game so I went to check out tickets. Not a lot of lower bowl tickets available on SeatGeek which is surprising. Not sure about Ticketmaster.

If we can't stop the run better than we did today - we're in deep doo-doo.

On straight run plays they went 20 for 81 yards. That's not special, but they didn't line up and run the ball down our throats at all. Especially in the second half. A long of 23 for the game.

I'm honestly surprised you didn't say if they don't defend the pass better. Virginia has a very solid QB- he might be a Senior Bowl kid. Duke has a QB who had confidence at the time. UNC's kid that played against us is talented. He's better than the kid they were playing earlier, Surrat or whatever.

Those are the types of kids that give us trouble. Dropback passers...usually in the first half before we adjust in the second half. In this game we started lining up wider, in an alignment called a wide-9 alignment that took away the rollout passes that were killing us.

To insist that players would roll over and lose on purpose to hurt a coach they haven't spoken to in years is a stretch... Even for this board

Unfortunately, today our secondary played like they were blindfolded. Most troubling to me were the long pass connections. Granted, the ease in which they converted numerous short to intermediate passes into first downs was not encouraging. I have every confidence that Coach Diaz will use this performance as a tool to correct and improve our defense, which could be huge in the coming games.

A quick check of the Pitt Roster shows about three seniors still on the team who were there when (and were recruited by) Chryst when he ran off to Wisky (one local Ohio kid I know was recruited by him and would be a senior, but quit after last year).

To you amatuer (or professional) sports psychologists: Do you think they will be motivated to fire up the team to beat Miami and send the coach that abandonded them to the CFP or will the opposite occur?

Yeah, Yeah, they are not playing for a bowl game and the 'Canes have won the last two trips up there, so it's probably theoretical, but it is an interesting wrinkle to this season.

Anyone who underestimates Pitt does so, as they say, at their own peril. I find it impossible to understand how people are already calling for a Canes blowout over the Panthers, after watching today's game.

The Pitt game will most probably be played on an off track in very cold weather. Pitt will see the Canes game as way to redeem themselves for an ugly season.

Finally, it is without question that our Canes play down to the competition.

PS: I am not calling for a Pitt upset, but do not rule out a very competitive game that with a few bounces going in favor of the Panthers we might all be surprised...not in a good way.

UVA is a good team. Pitt is a very bad team. Simple. Pitt is the worst team we will have played since BCC . Obviously they are better then them but still. UNC beat Pitt at Pitt .

That is why I'm asking. It may not be one at all or maybe it factors in later in the game itself when rationaliztion for not wanting to perform anymore at the end of season is sought.

Allow me to be honest with you...Before all of the following games I read on this site that Georgia Tech is a bad team, North Carolina is a bad team, Syracuse is a bad team and Virginia is a bad team, yet most all of them **** near beat us... and without a miracle play or two several should have beat us. And, I also read that we would ROLL over all those teams. So, you'll have to forgive me if I don't take a lot of comfort in your declaration that Pitt is a bad team.

Actually gonna be around 45. Not too bad at all (for us PA people). Pitt just lost at the 1 yard line in a heartbreaker & now is playing for absolutely nothing.

They are playing for pride my man and that can be a game changer in all sports (see Virginia, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Georgia Tech). Should the Canes jump on them hard early, then Pitt MAY fold their tents.

Look, I am not trying to be a downer after today's fantastic comeback win, but I believe showing respect for Pitt by our coaches, players, fan base is a good idea as you've seen how an overconfident attitude by all involved has a way of being captured and played upon by a competitor.

WTF. The players and coaches should respect them...but not us as fans. **** Pitt!
