Pitt Game 2

Mixon called for a balk. Tied.

Double scores the other two. 11-9. Still no outs. This has to be the worst coaching job JD has ever done.

Players need to make plays. You can't fault the coaches for the walks. My only criticism has been on the timing of changing pictures, but it seems it doesn't matter because nobody is getting it done.

The pitching has regressed from last year because the personnel isn’t a good as last year. No Bargfeldt, Cabezes or Bartow and have been replaced by the likes of Keysor and Mixon. Anyone who isn’t delousional can clearly understand that’s a significant downgrade but there’s always the sunshine crowd that thinks everything will get better each offseason no matter what. Turns out when we’re not playing UMBC anymore, we give up 10+ runs all the time.

The problem is that other than maybe Veliz, none of our pitchers have gotten better and a few have gotten worse. You can point to individual situations with McKendry missing the fall and Maury coming off an injury, but when it’s that much of a collective issue the coaching has to bear some of the blame.

Back to back singles from Vilar and Zamora puts two on with one out for Del Castillo

Excellent hitting by Zamora. Perhaps the Canes have been reading CIS as I have .been saying from day 1 that you have to hit the ball oppo with 2 strikes.

Toral looks awful swinging at curveballs.
[/QUOTE
Can't understand why Toral doesn't pick up the spin on the curveball. He has a quick bat. There's no reason to be so far out in front of the pitch. He's only going to get curveballs all season until he proves he can hit off speed pitches.

Mantilla, injured to start the season, warming up in case Mixon gets in trouble. Understandably not going anywhere near Federman barring a rally.

Mixon fairly cleanly through the eighth. Gates, Jenkins, and Amditis due up. If he’s available as the Pitt announcers said, we might see Gil pinch hit for Jenkins.

Amditis singles to put the tying run on.

Quinones getting his shot in place of Escala

Moore running for Amditis

Quinones singles with Lala up. Time for Jordan to turn his day around
