Pinckney down to 215lbs

Vilma was 228, DJ was 240, but why bother with facts?

**** Beason was short but he was every bit of 225.

CMAC was 245
Nate Webster 230 plus

Yes, we've had some successful smaller guys, but our real studs were not 215 pounds on the regular. Nevermind that we have already removed a lb from our D. I love the speed idea, but at some point you will need some bulk in the middle to hold up to power runs.

Again, I hope we are the fastest, nastiest Best D in the nation matter how big, but I have my concerns.

In your rush to quote "facts," it appears you put up everyone's NFL/Combine weight. Their NFL weight is immaterial, as many LBs and DLs put on weight to bulk up for the different style of football that occurs in the NFL.

In reality, the fact is Roquan smith is listed at 225 in UGAs 2017 roster. Vilma is listed at 208 on hurricanesports. Nate Webster was 225 in 1999 per hurricanesports. CMAC was listed as 6'3" 222lbs. You had DJ about right at 244lbs, though, but he was always a big dude.

Anyone worrying about a savage like Pinkney playing too light at 215 lbs in college is either dense or a troll.

Thank you for the explanation.
Perfect example...watch the FSU game last night ... in the 4th Qtr Shaq's drop was too shallow allowing the QB to throw TD to TE over his head...watched a few times.. but IMO if Shaq was deep enough to stop the pass Blackmon would have tucked an ran..but would not have scored so he should have been deeper...but still almost a damned if you do...damned if you don't...

Guess that’s why there’s 11 guys out there.

Really appreciate the dialogue, as well as HOW Shaq plays the game.

For the FIFTH TIME IN HERE ALREADY, let me try to break down my statement slower for you:

To ME it SOUNDS light, and it won't carry him to a high NFL pick being 215, BUT if he can BALL at that weight, **** IT, I'm good with it.

/some of you guys read/comprehend badly
frankly, i could care less about what he does in the NFL. let him ball out here at 215 or 315 and the NFL stuff will take care of itself.

Pinckney got a pot belly; dude is out of shape. Pinckney drops to 215; dude is too small.

First of all, the weight infatuation needs to leave far from here; that’s still from Golden’s regime. Second...some of you mofos got that Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Baby Bear complex!

Two words.....draft eligible

Homer, Richards, Jackson, Pinckney, Shaq.....players take a different approach when they know there's a pro contract waiting for them across the finish line.

215lbs is absolutely light for a starting LB, especially a 3rd year LB. Really no way to argue against that point. But that doesn't mean he can't be a great player at 215lbs or better than he was at 225lbs. There will be times where is weight will be a hindrance to him (just like it was at times for Spence, Vilma, young ray etc). There will also be times where he will make a play because he is lighter/quicker. We don't run a scheme where LB weight is of special importance (like Bama and Georgia do with their 3-4's) so I'll side with the players comfort. If this is where he feels more comfortable, then I'll roll with it.
