LB Mike Pinckney has shed about 10 pounds since last season from 225 pounds, and he says he feels lighter on his feet.

“I’m excited for fall camp,” Pinckney said. “I’m in way better shape than I was in the spring. I’m 215 right now. I’m able to run fast, feel I’m beter in shape to be in better condition to go all four quarters and some.

“I might end up putting five, six pounds back on, it depends. I’m comfortable at whatever weight I play. I’m comfortable with where I am right now. The offseason workouts have been great. Coach Gus (Felder), he’s really locked in with us and we’re really following his system so I feel we should be successful.”

Next step is to figure out where to be in your drops on passing downs.

Edit: I'm sorry downvoters. Was he not TOTAL dog**** in this department last year?? He helped average QB's look like world beaters.

215 sounds a little light to me for an elite college lb, is it not?

/If he plays better at 215, I'm all for it, just a question

Telvin smith(who he has similarities In his game) was that size and very good. For his skill set 215-220 is fine for him

Yeah, I've heard of some 215 guys being good, but I just picture 230 guys in my mind being thumpers that can run. If he can play at a TS level, I will be more than happy.

DAAAAAAWG IM STOKED. IM LIKING IT!

This ain’t the slow *** Big 10! He plays weak side and in our scheme that means speed is very important.

I got ya, AGAIN, I'm not saying it's bad, just asking if it's not a little light for a 6 foot lber, relaxxxxxxxxxxxx fellers. I just don't see many 215 pound backers going early in the draft. Sounds like he feels better, so if he plays better at 215 **** it, I'm in.

Telvin Smith was 6 foot 3 and ran a 4.5 40 man, not sure I see them as the same type of guy, but again if he can play anywhere near his level @ FSU I will more than take it.
Vilma was 215 and he was a middle linebacker, he didn't get weight til the end of his career here at UM. I'm not concerned about weight esp being in the ACC. Hopefully, his production increases even more

I don't remember Vilma being that small, but you may be right.

These are the last 3 NFL drafts LBers that have gone Round 1:
2018
Smith - 236
Edmunds - 253
VanDerEsch - 256
Evans - 233

2017
Reddick - 235
Davis - 240
Foster - 230

2016
Floyd - 251
Lee - 233

I want my man to ball out here, but I also want him to get paid when he's done, lol

I just knew when I saw this thread title that someone would say Pinckney is too light.

Before he was too fat. Now he's too thin.

Awesome.

For the FIFTH TIME IN HERE ALREADY, let me try to break down my statement slower for you:

To ME it SOUNDS light, and it won't carry him to a high NFL pick being 215, BUT if he can BALL at that weight, **** IT, I'm good with it.

/some of you guys read/comprehend badly

Some of those weights are skewed bc they are OLB in 3-4 defenses like Floyd, but you are correct. The NFL like their linebackers over 230. Shaq Thompson was considered a tweener at 228
