Clemson is getting a lot of hype because they have the most continuity returning, and they do have front line talent.
Miami has better top 44 (2 deep) than Clemson.
Clemson was boat raced last season by UGA and our QB. They lost at home to South Carolina. They lost at home by double digits to Louisville. They needed a late game heroic run by Klubnik to beat Pittsburgh with their backup QB.
Even against Texas they lost by 14, and gave up like 300 yards rushing to a Texas team that wasn't even that good running the football.
Its a big leap in projection going from one of worst run defenses in the country to a good enough run defense to be a National Title contender. Banking on a converted WR as your RB1 and a true freshman to man the backfield also is a concern.
They had the easiest ACC schedule I think I have ever seen last season, thats the reason they got to the ACC title game. Had they play @GT or @Syracuse they would have lost IMO.
Their best win was against Pitt with Pitt's backup QB. They were like 85th in run defense. They even caught a break vs. Vt with Drones and Tuten both injured.
Now they played a good first half against SMU got a lead, (Lights a little too bright early for SMU), but once SMU got their sea legs they dominated the rest of game almost coming back and winning. SMU had 458 yards of offense and 28 First downs to Clemson's 326 yards of offense and 20 first downs.
Now this years team is probably their overall best since 2021 maybe 2020.
Wirh that said Klub isnt Lawrence, Woods isnt Wilkens, their is no Sammy Watkins or Nuke Hopkins at WR.
They can be beaten. I think Miami matches up great against Clemson actually. We bullied them at the LOS last time we played.
The main issue is Clemson doesnt typically lose games they shouldnt. Typically. So they navigate a season better than we do.
They are the safer pick to
Win ACC when you factor in our history.
