No, it's not. Charlottesville is a Democratic stronghold, just like Athens (and most college towns). The surrounding area of Charlottesville (at least Albermarle County) is just as strong Democrat, and so is Clarke County where Athens is. Get out of there, and it's strong Republican area.

Richt turns down UM. Takes a year off then takes over at GT for a fired Paul Johnson in 2017. Bringing his offense and recruiting ability to Atlanta will make GT a force in the ACC. His wife will approve as she gets to stay in Georgia.

Charlottesville is a nice quiet town like Athens. If the money is right, I can see Richt - who sounded like he might not even want to coach next season - taking a job with lower expectations. He can make his money, live a nice slower paced life, go to church, and win 6-8 games and be a hero.
