Have you watched the team this year? The WR core was our best unit.

Debatable, and if so only because our oline was historically bad which affected the RB and QB. I remember a lot of dropped balls.

I think Beard should stay. Does a great job bringing energy and passion to the position.

Guys made a jump under him. That wasn't happening before (last 5 years or so). Guys had to go outside of Miami staff to improve their game or just improved int that contract year (Senior year).

We saw fewer penalties from our WR. We saw fewer dropped passes. We saw better production.

Scott and Beard are coaches I would keep.
Ice and Brown maybe stay.
Kehoe, find a new role or pair him with a younger guy that he can "groom" (but really is the heavy lifter).
D'No needs to go.

Paul Williams, I'm letting go because of his inability to connect with local recruits and coaches. His unit (aside from Dallas) improved over the last two years (once he had some talent to play with).

then ice harris is gone. i dont buy it. i think ice stays. richt went to the booker t game with him. a running back coach is only as good as the talent and o-line.
 
I believe there will be SOME staff retention to maintain continuity from this season to next with our current players. I believe Larry Scott has proven himself to be the type of man that Richt described in wanting to be on the staff as a personality and leader.

As far as retaining others? I don't think just because Richt travels with them to see recruits it means they are staying. Richt has to go see these recruits with SOMEONE from the current staff.

BC ops position is a fancy word for assistant position coach.
 
Hire a new coach and everyone is concerned about keeping all the staff members. I've seen this same post for Ice, Beard, Coley, Brown, and Scott.

If we're going to keep all the assistants, why fire Golden?

It seems everyone wants to keep the guys they might have shook hands with at one point. Or said something nice to them. Doesn't make sense.

I'm also against bringing in coaches that had previous success here at Miami (i.e. Shannon at DC, for example). I'd rather Richt bring in guys from his Rolodex than from the Miami front office's. Have to remember that Richt made separate contacts and relationships throughout his career that veer far from those that came to Miami. Bring me Richt's SEC relationships.
 
LOL at the Beardlievers on here. Love the goofy mantra about Beard being a great coach because our WRs were great. First, they weren't great or significantly better than they were at some other point in their careers.

Scott was great a few years ago before he got on the injury and suspension train. He's a phenomenal talent who will tear it up in the NFL. Coley is another phenomenal talent who had a freshmans season similar to this last season. Are you going to credit Oklahoma State's RB coach in the 80's for creating Barry Sanders?

Beard is the definition of amateur. He has a year as a HS assistant and a couple years as a secretary in the football office. His "grooming" as a position coach is a year under the immortal offensive wizard Mike Rumph.

Our own beloved Beardy Ryan aka Coach Macho is 10000x more accomplished as an actual football coach than Beard. You guys clamoring for him to coach LBs?

Beard needs to go out and hone his craft. He should try to work under some innovative offensive coaches at a lower level or try to get a video coordinator gig in the NFL and work his way up the ladder.

He's got no business being a position coach at this level of football. None. Folden hired him because there wasn't anyone of significance willing to jump on an obviously sunken ship and then have to move again somewhere else after a year. Same reason he had to get his DL coach from the school across the ocean.

Give me a break with this stupid baseless hype with Beard. The dude is a rank amateur and exactly what we need to correct. Let the man go hone his craft like everyone else has to do.
 
KB is a great guy and a great Cane who will be a very good WR coach with some more seasoning, but we need to move to a more experienced coach at this point given the youth at the position. Perhaps we can keep KB on staff in his prior role and let him learn from a more seasoned coach and be the WR Coach in waiting.

All the coaches are recruiting because they are still under contract until the bowl game is over. Ice brings no value. The players have been vocal about keeping beard and scott and nobody has mentioned keeping ice. On top of that he hasn't landed a recruit in 2 years, stop overating this guy.
 
Golden hired HS coaches to get a foothold into Miami recruiting. It didn't work very well. Their resumes are padded now with some college experience. Good luck with all your future endeavors, but we need veteran college coaches now.

I love the idea of WR coach in waiting. Are there any ancient WR coaches willing to come in here to school Beard for a couple years? Can we dig up Charlie Joyner?

This man gets it. Folden couldn't recruit down here because the street wise people saw right through the used car salesman schtick and realized that he was a piece of crap as a coach and a piece of crap as a person. Folden realized that he had to address the exodus of talent from the South Florida area and he hired a bunch of HS coaches from talent rich HS programs to help reap some of the local talent. While Folden was able to sign some players, he was stuck with a bunch of inexperienced coaches and everyone saw the results.

It's time to have a professional staff with coaching veterans like Art Kehoe.

As I've already stated, KB is a great guy and will be an awesome coach someday, he needs more seasoning.

Beard is arguably our second best coach behind Coach Scott lol. He was brought into to help get ties into the community and he has succeeded. Yes we didn't get Scarlett but does it look like he's doing anything at UF? Our WR's are much improved this year as well.
 
I think part of the reason people want all these position coaches to stay is because everyone hated Golden and no D so much it deflected the blame from the other staff. However, the staff of any head coach is a reflection of that head coaches decision making and culture. Everyone underachieved here, time to start acting like it. Clear house.

To accept the existing corching staph is to accept Fraulden's judgement. As a stopped clock is correct twice a day, one or two may be OK. The rest are trash. Let Richt decide the very few, if any, that aren't trash.

I don't know how you can say with a straight face that he's our second best coach. He was working in ops the prior year for crying out loud. He has succeeded in getting ties into the community? What does that even mean? You know what gets ties into the community? Winning and mark richt. As for Bruce, he's coming with or without beard. Unless we completely flop, Bruce is coming.
