Perspective from the inside....

It sounds to me like these kids are doing all they can as much as they can. They’re working their asses off. The coaches are failing them this season. Here’s hoping top recruiting classes eventually mask all of the glaring deficiencies we’re looking at now on gameday from the highest paid staff in the conference.

It's 5 games into an entirely new regime. Nobody on this staff except Field has ever coached any of these kids. The flat-out coverage busts are very concerning, but I'm willing to give it time for the staff and players they recruited to gel through spring, summers, camp, real games, etc. Sometimes it takes some time for everyone to get on the same page. Maybe I'm way off and the staff is just hot trash, but I don't think it's fair to say they're good or bad at this point.

Many (not all) of the first-year coaches are struggling at their new schools. Riley seems to have hit the ground running, but I don't think bringing his QB with him and the best WR in the country has hurt too much. A lot of the others are going through growing pains.

So now we have a concussion AND a hamstring? What will it be next week, torn labia?

Too bad it’s your last post too. Would love for you to “school me” on coverages and just football in general.

I’m no insider by the way, but I’m much closer to this particular issue than you’re comfortable with. Don’t worry, I won’t post anything else here that’s important.

Having been on a football field gives perspective as to what the players deal with. Off the field, there isn’t a sole, including you and I, that have a clue what they deal with on an hourly basis. Forming opinions without having ALL the facts is asinine.

Like I said, I’m not here for internet cool points. People can take the sh*t I post here with whatever level of seriousness that they want.

yeah Ill pass on the Winslow attitude. a dude that ended up molesting people (one that was bad when he was still in his 20s) and he had that stupid ignorant rant about hm being a soldier when he was son of a NFL legend growing up who was athletically gifted and a criminal

I agree with you on today’s generation of Pvssyfication of kids but what did Rique say that was so egregious that you are comparing what he does to soldiers in a battlefield that sacrifice all?

And @P-Tizzle - they are kids. They may not be in the sense of a 5th grader but just because they legally are adults and in college, they are still learning and finding out about life. It’s actually just getting started.

I am not the type to excuse much but I am the type to try and understand and teach my older kids as they will make immature mistakes as any your personal would starting out life on their own, especially under a spotlight as they are athletes.

He is worried about social media and someone saying kill yourself. Who ******* cares. Its the internet. Not real life.


So those people on DDay were kids? No they were men! Same age as our players.

I didnt say do what he did. I said his attitude. Id rather see that then this baby**** culture we currently have.

if any of these dudes ever went to UM, they'd know they're kids and most of that student body is that is a traditional college student. they're on this fake schedule that is very diff from the real world (class where your day is broken up into blocks with sufficient breaks and really only like 4-5 AT BEST (w no labs) of class time. the rest of it is **** around and some work when you need to study for an exam. every major is diff in terms of the work load but its still less than what the real world provides. on top of that they have a 5 week winter break, a week for thanksgiving, 3 months in the summer, 1 week for spring break along w fall break. they're absolutely kids. they dont have to worry where the next meal is coming from bc of the dining hall/cane dollars loaded onto your account with your meal plan, etc. school is the easiest thing in the world compared to real life. ask anyone that has went to a tough grad school program or did a tough major and compare it to the real world. they'll all say they miss school and how out of touch w reality it was

DDAY is what youre comparing this to. congrats on the most extreme example that most of us have never experienced (any type of war).

comparing a football player playing a sport (a kids game) for money as if youre fighting for your life in a battlefield w shots at you? yeah ill pass.

on D-Day they were forced to go to war by the government. you know that ended in 73 right where it was optional and completely voluntary.

Social Media sucks. My wife hates me when I show her my screen time on my iPhone for Instagram and Facebook.

I average 1 minute per day on each. Quick scroll to make sure I catch a birthday or quick family pic or news.

Social media is crap. It’s very negative. Different people deal with it in different ways. Affected by it in different ways. I for one don’t want any of it in my life (although I do spend wayyyyy to much time on this site and I am reevaluating that).

I am so glad I (and many of us here and sounds like you included) didn’t grow up with social media crap or phones.

He mentions it as a negative, Cristobal mentions it as a negative and that’s it. He’s not making an excuse as to his performance or anything because of social media. Only that keep the negative vibes out that can intact your performance.

If you had to go to work and read a social media site for all to see how good or bad you are in your job, then maybe you might feel different.
